People Magazine Covers The Paris Attacks

For anyone who reads People regularly this issue is a good one. The cover story is David Beckham and sexiest men of the year. Then again this is People, not The Economist. The article on Paris is devastating though. I was sitting in the library reading it. The first paragraph...a psychologist volunteering to do what he can has to help an 8 year old understand that Mommy isn't coming home. He tells her that she might pick a star in the sky. There were no stars that night. He used a penlight to create a star and the little girl talks to the star. How Poppa is crying and she wanted Mommy to come back for her.

If that doesn't start the tears spontaneously, you're dead yourself. Fortunate there were tissues nearby. There aren't words...and so very many other stories from the scene. The merchandising assistant for the American band. Someone trying mouth to mouth before he died in her arms...Okay, here I go again. Time for a Monty Python movie or something.

This weeks Time magazine has a story by David Von Drehle titled "World War ISIS". Actually, it makes sense. These barbarians are attacking all over the globe.

I read People at the chiropractor's office. The ladies at the front desk hide the current issue and will let you borrow it if you ask, but you HAVE to give it back. They were having a lot of people "accidentally" take it with them, which made 'em made because they like to read it, too. Thus, they instituted the current regime. After the new one comes, the old one goes out on the rack and the new one gets secreted away. Very serious business.
