People Who Steal.

And don't forget your garage door opener that's probably clipped on your visor. They have your address!
That's very good advice. I rent an apartment, so no garage. When I owned that house, I had to have the garage door replaced and had a metal roll up one put in. I didn't get a garage door opener for it. One less thing to go wrong and the door wasn't heavy.

Was with friends who encouraged me to take something, I was about 10 or 11. So I did, got caught ( the friends melted away) and never did it again. I was so devastated and so scared grandma might find out! So it was a risk I would never take again. There have been a couple of times I accidently took something, discover later that I didn't pay, but that was never intentional.

When I used to take cross-country bus trips long ago, I always kept my money in my shoe, except for a couple of dollars in case I needed to use a vending machine.
That reminds me of something sad I saw on a cross country bus once; I was traveling to FL from PA. There was a boy of about 16, seated near the front of the bus. We stopped for a rest, and people started lining up to get off the bus. I was waiting for a break in the line, and and saw that the boy had dropped a pile of bills on his seat. He didn't notice, and joined the line.

Before I could either grab the money and follow the kid, or try to get his attention, a grown man casually swept the money into his pocket and gave me a look. I kept quiet because that man looked mean. But it made me angry to think what was going to happen to that boy when he found out he had no money for the rest of his trip! I wished, for five minutes, that I was a man and could have confronted that rotten thief.

I've been reading these reasons why people would do this.. I didn't see anything about maybe the way they were brought up.
Maybe parents or other family members did these things also and it keeps being passed down from generation to generation as something being alright to do.
I can't help but think that maybe these parents or family members couldn't pay for things they wanted and that the person who is last doing the crime was either afraid to speak up or afraid of being alone.
I guess there's always going to be a reason that we will never understand of why they do what they do.
We can only hope and pray that day they can get help before it's too late.

I don't agree.

My parents weren't thieves.. but my sister is one... .. my brother was /is also one ( he was the worst, a house burglar)....I say was, because I haven;t seen him for years , like my sister, I cut off all contact with him... so I just presume he still is.. once a thief always a thief in my mind... 🤬

Sounds like my brother and sister, who are definitely thieves. When my father died, he left several thousand in his bank account. He hadn't made up a will, but probate court told us that if we got signed affidavits from all the surviving family members, we could divide the money between us. My brother told the court that he was the only surviving member of the family, and calmly withdrew the money for himself. It wasn't worth getting angry about, but I've been pretty distant with him after that.

Geez hollydolly, the stuff you have put up with in your life. I wonder if their behavior is somehow related to the abuse you must have all endured growing up. Some people make it through better than others.

I have issues but I'm not a personality disorder, where I'm sure my brother is and my other brother became a Jehovah's Witness. I guess he needed someplace to belong. And he's a jerk.

I understand what you mean.. but that sister was the spoiled one.. she never got smacked, she was given everything she wanted.. and she has no memory of the abuse before my mother died because she was too young..

When I have anything done with my car, I take the money I keep in one of the little drawers, my CDs, PO Box keys and the car registration, insurance proof and put them in the trunk. I then give them my second extra key. It doesn't open the trunk. They stole your glasses which no one could even use but they didn't know that. They were just out for your expensive glasses. And as a glasses wearer, I know what they cost.

Never give your full key ring people when having any car serviced like an oil change. Give them your second key or take the car key off the ring and take all valuables out of the car or secure them. My old car had a separate key for the glove box but this car doesn't have a lock on it.

Wow, crooks are everywhere and you never can tell.
Great advice. The dealership told me they were keeping my car for an hour for service. That is the only reason I left valuables in it. They ended up keeping it for 3 days because they found a tire that needed replacing and they had to order it. I've learned my lesson!

That’s a little different. IMO, it was meant as punishment for those who shouldn’t have shared those photos of her deceased loved ones. I hope she donates it to charity; she sure doesn’t need it.

Not that many years ago our paper used to print the crime report and the locations. Now I read FB and learn of all the thefts. It’s everywhere and often.
I would take the Facebook Feed appearing on your device with a grain of salt, as targeted content is probably populating what you're getting.
