People Who Won't Listen To You

A female friend went to dinner with a man who spent over an hour talking about himself. When she tried to join the conversation, he said if he wanted to know anything about her, he would ask. Until then, she was there to listen.

He was surprised when she turned down another date.
I would have have left the restaurant immediately, that is, immediately after I pour my glass of water all over him! Narcissist alert when you state "He was surprised when she turned down another date". Scary....run:eek:nthego:

Yes, definitely freaky. She came over and spent the night because she didn't want to be home in case he came by.

I don't blame her.
I dated a guy like this, he was really crazy narcissist too. Handsome guy, worked for a power company making A rate pay, but when I went over to his house he sat on an aluminum chair and took one out for me. He had a fully furnished house but wouldn't sit on his furniture. Also, when we went out to eat at a buffet type place he would pay for one and then would go up to the buffet and bring me back some of his food. There is more but you get the gist. I obviously told him I was breaking it off with him and he said to give him one more chance and he still wanted to take me out and teach me to shoot....umm yeah....I don't think so. :eek:nthego:

Sounds as if there were multiple pathologies at work with this guy.

My ex was a know it all control freak. That's why she is now an ex, well actually she is now an ex x 2. I guess her latest hubby grew tired of it as well.
Over time, such people worsen. It becomes almost impossible to live with them. Forecast, a lonely bitter old age, often culminating in being ostracised or medicated into compliance in the rest home.

I worked for a know-it-all boss, once. The best thing I ever did, OTJ: As he droned on and on about how things needed to be done his way, and blah, blah, blah, I fell fast asleep. This was while sitting in his office with my Asst. Mngr. He told her to let me sleep, since I worked so hard for his company. I woke up to find an empty office. When my AM told me what had happened, I felt great, since I was able to let him know exactly what I thought of him without saying one word! Later, at a company meeting with the Dist. Mangr., another butt head, I stood up, told him off, and walked out, never to return. Another employee told me to hold up, came with me, and we had a great breakfast, together. Another great memory. At my shop, this local DJ came in and started talking about himself. I could not get a word in, to save my soul. He started his soliloquy at 10:30 AM, and he kept going until 11:20 AM, strictly timed, by me. All I can remember is that his name was Rob, and he rode a white, (former) police Harley.
