PFFFFFT, First Time I Have Ever Failed a Drug Test

N' I had a darn colorful history in my youth. Then again drug tests weren't standard to job applications in those days. If you showed up for work relatively sober and no dealers came by on lunch time you were pretty good. But for Best Buy...bastards haven't dumped me for bad credit yet...

But I got a call. I was thinking one of my RX's or well yeah I drink but it wouldn't come up I don't think. They found codeine...one pill from hubby's collection. My ankle was really barking one night and they make him sick. Now I have to go and have the Dr. fax on Monday, I am allowed one and I do not have a habit...

You're applying for a Loss Prevention job at BB? Sorry to say, but I don't have a positive opinion of Best Buy's treatment of employees to offer.

Look folks I am so looking for non-profit. But I have been unemployed since October. Over-qualified, under -qualified, too old, too young, bad credit, student loan default, 10,000 children they can hire for minimum wage. But I have learned. You take the retail garbage job for small change. Then you start putting in the pretty cover letter and resume to every non-prof until you finally get a full-time yes...come in tomorrow.

I might want to add this freaking ankle makes me scream in my sleep if I turn the wrong way. I have got to follow up on that this year ya know?

That's a bummer, Fur. So, the DR's FAX on Monday, is that to Best Buy so they can check this one off and still consider hiring you?

Anyway, hope everything turns out ok. Maybe you were supposed to miss this one.

Good luck Fur! Do you have Costco where you live? Ever apply? They treat their employees well and pay them a lot more than anywhere else.

Okay so today I got to the doctor at 1:30. Plenty of time to straighten things up before school lets out. The best laid plans of cats and men...I checked in with the receptionist. An hour later I went back to the window, new receptionist who didn't know the old one checked me in. Wait again...oh yay at 3:00 a person who looks to be about fourteen in a lab coat comes in.

Then you wait...that was merely the nurse practitioner. The good news was she found a perfectly legit codeine RX for me from October. Oy, hubby has so many pill bottles things get lost sometimes. Then 3:30 and the real doctor shows up. The nurse was talking about maybe fixing my ankle so I don't need pain meds. Good idea there...

The doctor comes in and has the print out that I have a valid prescription. But he won't fax it to Best Buy. Fortunately on the way out I went to my husband's doc and they faxed it right there. The amusing thing after all this? The doc wasn't interested in my wonky ankle. He seemed concerned my blood pressure was high...RAHHH you just kept me waiting three hours bingo brain...

In the day and age of the DFWP or drug free work place be prepared for a drug test at any time during the application process. So many people try to beat those test that a surprise test is the only way to catch someone. I've had job interviews then an hour to get their drug screener a less than a mile a way and this was over a decade ago at this point.

I understand some people "share" prescription medicine but in this environment of the pill mill doctor, pain killer medicine abuse etc theoretically a distribution charge would not be that far fetched.

All too true...something else I was never aware of before...reading a magazine while getting a tattoo a few years ago. In the classifieds are a poop load of additives and chemicals that can either create fake pee, help you carry a clean sample, or mess with the test so the drugs don't register. I had no idea there was such a big market for such stuff. Ahh call me old and naïve.
