looking for information on how to make retirement stretch. I'm 63 and wandering if waiting until I am 65 makes a difference.

Hi pford, you can go to the social security website and find out exactly what you will receive at 62, 65 or 70. For me, I would lose $500 a month if I took early retirement.

Hi Pford,

Hello there Pford. So where are you writing from and are you a he or a she?

Regarding your question about retiring, let me tell you a little story about my friend named Sue.

She was working as a guard in the Nova Scotia prison system and after many years the stress was beginning to affect her very badly. So she planned very carefully regarding her finances and finally retired at 58. Of course she had good pensions and planned to 'recover' from the years 'in prison' by travelling the world as she loved to do. A year later, she began to feel badly (last November or December) and from that point on was in and out of hospital and in September (two months ago) she died of liver failure and kidney failure.

The point is, nobody knows when it will be time to go. So if you will be comfortable (financially safe) maybe it would be okay. Something to think about anyway.

Anyway, welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy being here.
