| Been receiving phone call after phone call from all three main political parties here in our location. My Wife, Sue, has told me to be polite on the phone. Sometimes it's hard to do..... Anyway phone rings and I answer it expecting another political call..... "Hello" I say, in a very polite voice..... "Hello. I'm calling to see if you need your ducts cleaned." "Pardon?"...Notice politeness.... "I'm calling from Adonis duct cleaning services. Would you like your ducts cleaned? We have a special on to-day..." "Hold on"...I turn to Sue... "Babe, we have some guy on the phone who wants to clean our ducts?" "Ducks?" "No, ducts....Not sure what cleaning them would do..." "Well", says Sue, " Are you sure this isn't a scam?" "I'll ask.." So I did. In a polite voice. Needless to say the "duct" guy hung up on me.... "He hung up on me. I'm hurt." "Well," Says Sue, "You'll get over it." "Babe, I'm really hurt. I know what would fix my hurts.." "Let me guess. Ice cream." I look at Sue with my very injured, sad look.... "I'll go get you some ice cream" Says Sue " That will soothe your feelings, I'm thinking." That look works everytime....... | |
