Pictures From My Smart Bird Feeder

We used one of those silver baffles on our feeder to deter squirrels and it worked. Occasionally they’d jump onto the feeder and occasionally they’d land on the feeder but most times they would miss. They are annoying but at the same time , entertaining.
I see that you laughed at us here
@MarciKS

You wouldn't be laughing if you were paying for the bird seed.

😉😊😁😆

Trust me. I'm laughing cuz i know. I used to feed the squirrels. Three of them could easily polish off 5 lbs of black oil sunflower seeds.

Okay, I believe you. You're an expert On them. 😁

Last time I fed a squirrel intentionally,
It was to set up a decoy, away from the bird feeder.😊
It didn't work. They were onto it. 😁😆😄

The only other time was decades ago. About 3 of them got up on the picnic table and took charge of my sandwich.🫣😬😵

Well, that wasnt intentional, but i intentionally gave up the table and the sandwich, and ran for the parking lot.
🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Never took lunch to that park, again.
😃😄😁😆

Camera caught a Red Finch as the sun was going down. :)

We had a red finch in our courtyard this morning as well. They are beautiful but our only issue with them is we have transom windows and they tend to fly into them and they do it over and over again. :( They don't hurt themselves but we can hear it when we're in the family room. Hubby put a wooden cat in one of the transom windows to deter it but it doesn't help. It is great to see so many beautiful birds in one place!

It's it like a large dish cymbol in the orchestra?
Or is it a silver Cylinder?

🥰
Here is the bird feeder squirrel baffle we have. It’s not silver, it’s matte black. It works good.
Every once in a while a squirrel will jump from the tree and land on the feeder but since we dont really feed the birds any more, we don’t have any squirrels any more. They don’t like the suet. Most of the snow has melted. It’s above 0 degrees Celsius. IMG_2045.jpeg

isn’t that the gospel truth? Those d-a-m-n squirrels are pigs & relentless. My birdfeeder is attached to the railing of the front porch. The squirrel baffles don’t work for me.

So far ATM, the squirrels haven’t figured out the birdseed is back. I have seen a pair of woodpeckers this morning and two pair of Blue Jays.

A lot of people don’t like the Blue Jays, but mine are not aggressive. Everybody pretty much gets along, but if there is a confrontation, don’t mess with the woodpeckers lol lol they will take that long beak and poke somebody’s eyes out.😇😇

LOL! They are pigs. Who would think such little critters would be so hungry all the time!

@seadoug
Funny, the wooden cat did not deter wild birds....not realistic enough.😊

Our wild birds pay no mind to our real cat, either; 😄

But it's extremely rare that any of them crash into this window.
I think it must have something to do with the light angles, reflections , etc.

Lady Cardinal visited in the early morning fog today.

I'm wondering when her mate is going to stop in. I know he's around.

We have ordered the seed with hot pepper oil and it should be here in a couple days. Meanwhile, my fight with the squirrels continues. I've yelled at a few of them over the intercom today and the alarm, which is now my voice yelling at them, seems to be working to some extent.

We put some suet on the pokey thing today as well and I'm hoping that attracts some Blue Jays. @Imogene, I love the Blue Jays. :) And I would really love to see a Woodpecker!

@Kaila, the seed with the pepper oil doesn't seem to cost much more, from what I can tell looking at Amazon's prices.

@PeppermintPatty, when I looked up the squirrel baffle on Amazon, it showed me something that is basically a Slinky. I can see how it would cause problems for the squirrels trying to climb up or over poles. We might get a set if the hot seed isn't enough.

I mean, seriously, Dude?

:mad: I admit it, I'm having dark thoughts about squirrels right now.:mad:

It is funny though, when I press the intercom and yell at them, how they freak out and leap off the feeder. 😂

Luv all the Bird snaps @Medusa I’m had not noticed the thread before …keep it up l like seeing birds wild and free
pretty fancy looking bird feeder …..we used to get allot of Willy wagtails in our small backyard ….and then a renter moved in next door with 3 cats and “our” Willy wagtails never came back ….hubs would whistle at the birds and they would reply :):)…one day ….two appeared on side gates with 3 young ones and flipped around like as if to say…this is the family ….

We are a very dry climate so we don't get many …colourful birds ..mainly the likes to magpies ; black birds , starling , noisy minors ,seagulls as we are fairly close to a beach

I call Willy wagtails ….bossy boots ….cause I’ve seen them take on a magpie , oh we get doves as well, but the Willy wagtails would send them on their way , out of our very small, back yard as well ….

We noticed a few new holland honey eaters flittering around our front yard during winter …I’d never noticed them in our area before . ( online photo )
