Pictures of the some beautiful cinemas in CA.

So guessing those fancy cinemas must cost an arm and a leg just to get inside, not to mention those $5 bucks popcorn containers and $4.00 for a 5 tablespoon drink,God help you if you try to buy a candy bar.
We got one here like that with 10 movie screens.

I much prefer an old cinema with character to it, this cinema is now 102 years old.....................

We are very lucky in Harwich to have The Electric Palace Cinema and a visit in conjunction with lunch or dinner at The Pier makes a splendid outing. The performances are usually at 2.30pm or 7.30pm. Dine in either of our restaurants as the Harbourside is open at lunchtime from 12 noon until 2.00pm and open again in the evening from 6.00pm. The Ha'penny Pier Brasserie is open all day with the full menu so you could have your starter and main and then come back for coffee and pudding after the film!

I think I've showed this before, but I worked here when I was 16. It was a converted opera house and was beautiful inside. They have now taken out the balcony and made 3 mini theaters out of it. God, sometimes I hate progress.

PS The fishbowl use to be a jewelry store. We bought our wedding rings there.:love_heart:

CeeCee, Do you get to the theater often? I have always wanted to go see a, (any), a play.:goodmorning:

If you live close to Houston there are many plays & musicals happening at any given time. Some cost a hunk of dough - others are free.

here are some links to see what's happening.

i saw whew The Wizard of Oz is being performed as a musical - and also Evita - now that's a few bucks $56) - but no doubt unforgettable. i'd say it's worth it!

Hope to hear you get a chance to go to something like this!!!

Jr, I admit, I'm chicken about being out and about in Houston at night. I would have to go by myself, and that is another big discouragement. Be my luck someone would steal my wheelchair. :dejection:

Totally understandable - but if you're really inclined to go to a play or musical, I hope you make a way. It can be the experience of a lifetime - you may even wonder why it took so long to discover. Just a thought - if going solo isn't an option, you could find some senior centers or senior advocates and ask around - I'd say there are others with the same concerns that you can double up with. This way you're not dealing with Craigslist strangers which is NOT the way to find a partner for any event!

Hi Davey, In my,whole life I've only been to the indoor movies about three times. I went to the outdoor movies, ($1. A car load), on the weekend a few times. :cart:

It wasnt a dollar a car,it was a dollar per person. I remember all this cause you left me in the trunk.
Last time Im going out with you.(g)

Jr, I hope I can too. My hubby has said no for 47 years. He has his TV, remote, and sees no need of me going, he doesn't dance either. He says at 71, he'll do as he pleases. I admit he work very hard for his retirement. :cart:

Davey, It was $1. a car. In 1967 most of the drive-ins were almost all gone from this area. It was called Dollar Night. Six months later it was a porn drive-in, for about a month. Until the adults had it closed. You could see it from the highway. :cart:
