I posted the photo of this basket on Facebook and someone responded that it was a pine needle basket. I never heard of that craft before. I wonder if it has any value or how old it is.

That is interesting, we have a lot of long leaf pines around here but I would have thought that they would have been too fragile to weave like that. That is good looking workmanship.

Maybe they overlap. There are probably online videos on how to make them.

However they did it I'm sure it took skill and a long time to make. There is a 7 1/2" one on eBay selling for about $20.00. plus $11.00 shipping. That doesn't mean they will get that though.
There are others in different shapes and sized. Prices are all over the place.
If you were going to sell it I would try it at a fairly high price providing it is in good shape.

A former neighbor, an elderly lady, was one of the best pine-needle basket weavers in Florida. She taught my sisters and I how to make the baskets.
They're made with dried long pine needles and raffia.
It's painstaking and time-consuming. I finished a flat one about 9" across and promptly gave up any idea for a new career.
