My purebred and dual registered (UKC and ADBA) American Pit Bull Terrier shares the bed I sleep in every night.
Never once has Mason attacked me or anyone else. Mason will be 12 in September.
He doesn't like cats or some other dogs ... which can be said of many dogs.

Some of the dogs posted in the OP are not Pit Bull Terriers.
I see one American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT), an American Staffordshire Terrier (AST), a couple of American Bullies and some mutts.
Yet main stream media and most of the general public will lump them all together as one breed of dog.
May as well lump all little foo foo dogs as the same breed or all double coated dogs as the same breed.

Funny thing is, some people might say my dog doesn't look like an American Pit Bull Terrier.
That's because main stream media and backyard breeders have distorted the concept of what an American Pit Bull Terrier is and looks like.
Yet I could post pictures of Mason with ribbons he has garnered at registry sanctioned events for the American Pit Bull Terrier.

German Shepherds, Rotties, Dobies and APBTs have all had their time in main stream media as dangerous dogs over the decades.
And the popular breeds are often brought to virtual ruin by those who breed for greed or just some backyard breeders throwing two dogs together, not knowing anything about what they're doing.

All dogs are individuals and should be assessed as such. Punish the deed, not the breed.

Dogsbite.org keeps statistics about united states dog bites and dog fatalities. Very sobering.

And very misleading. They get their "statistics" from main stream media mostly.
Journalists are not dog breed experts I don't think.
Moreover, statistics of this Pit Bull hating group founded by Colleen Lynn in 2007 are not verified by independent experts to ensure validity.
Main stream media lumps mutts and several different breeds together as "Pit Bull"
But haters eat it up.

My cousin lives in Massachusetts. I spoke to him yesterday, and he told me his boiler broke down and flooded his basement. The claim's adjuster came to assess the damage, heard my cousin's dogs barking from behind closed doors, and asked what kind of dogs they were. My cousin told him they were both rescues and mixed breeds. When the claims guy pressed him on what mix they were, he said blah, blah, and pit bull. A few days later, he received a letter stating that his home insurance had been cancelled because he had pit bulls.

I wasn't aware that some insurance companies deny or cancel coverage because of the dog breed you own.

I'm okay here with State Farm. The article explains State Farm policy :)
Punish the deed, not the breed.

From the article linked above ...

“State Farm does not ask what breed or type of dog a person owns when writing policies,” says Heather Paul, a spokesperson for the nation’s largest home insurer, and the owner of two pit bulls.

Instead, State Farm looks at the dog’s history. “Any dog, regardless of breed, can bite, and most bites are the perfect storm of situation and circumstance,” Paul says. “People often put themselves and others at risk, and dogs are blamed. That’s why State Farm focuses on dog bite prevention education rather than breed restrictions.”

What it's like to have an American Pit Bull Terrier at a registry sanctioned event and point show ...
And some of the ribbons the American Pit Bull Terrier has brought home ...

A few of my friends with their Old Family Red Nose (OFRN) American Pit Bull Terriers at a registry sanctioned event.
The golden eyed ones steal my heart every time.

My golden eyed red nose bulldog that came to me from the streets and of unknown origin and pedigree.
I never called Rowdy an American Pit Bull Terrier. He was a bulldog breed by a backyard breeder with no registration.
I lost Rowdy to cancer in 2011. Cancer sucks.

Like my current dog, Rowdy shared a bed with me every night. He was and is my heart dog.
Find me again some day buddy boy.

One more of Mason, my American Pit Bull Terrier and a link to his pedigree online.
Each dog listed in the pedigree is clickable and some even have pictures of the dogs too.
Mason is pure Colby dog bloodline from Newburyport Massachusetts.
Pure Colby all the back to when the American Pit Bull Terrier was first registered by the UKC in 1898.
Pure Colby bloodline with no outs or crosses top or bottom anywhere in the pedigree.

Up until 2011 when Lou Colby passed away, only Lou and his father John Colby breed Colby dogs.
That's about 120yrs of only two men stewarding a dog breeding program.
Mason looks like some of the American Pit Bull Terrier Colby dogs at the turn of the last century.
Owning Mason is like owning a piece of history.
Today, Lou Colby's grandson carries on the Colby dog American Pit Bull Terrier program.
And like his grandfather, Lou, the dogs are bred strictly as companions and pets.

Pedigree link. It has been viewed over 2050 times by many people ... Harrell's Mason Colby
