During a walk, we spotted this tribute to Robbie Burns. I know it's a while after Burns night, but this tribute on top of a postbox is untouched.
If you can make it out, the text on the left of the picture is "The Selkirk grace".
Just looking at a recent pic of my winter job many years ago warms my soul. (knowing I'll never be that broke and dumb again). That crane would lower you into the hole, (about 500 ft down) and then you'd climb up a set of ladders to around 300 feet and standing on a 2 foot ledge, you'd start jack hammering holes every 2 feet for blasting. Even back then, (1960's) you had a $100,000 life insurance policy. (for next of kin of course).
