Pizza Hut and Wendy’s Operator NPC Files for Bankruptcy

NPC International Inc., the largest franchisee of Pizza Hut restaurants in the U.S., filed for bankruptcy after coronavirus-related shutdowns added to competitive pressures in the restaurant industry.

The closely held company sought Chapter 11 protection in the Southern District of Texas court on Wednesday. NPC, founded in 1962, operates 1,227 Pizza Hut and 393 Wendy’s stores across the U.S., according to court papers.

It was my understanding that "Pizza Hut" and "Wendy's" are both owned by Pepsi Corporation. Is Pepsi also going under?

What gobsmacks me is, companies such as these have been around for ages, so one would be under the pretense that they have cash to spare. That's what always get's me, where did all the money go?

Good. Maybe someone will open decent pizza places and another place that doesn't grind up old, leftover and dropped burgers into "chili". blegh.
Hey!! Cut that out, Rose. When we raced at the US 13 Speedway, down in Delmar, Delaware we used to hit the local Pizza Hut sometime after midnight and their stuff always tasted great. Possibly anything would have tasted good after sniffing methanol fumes and dust all evening but they were good nights to remember!! :D

These fast food restaurants will not survive for much longer if this virus doesn't show substantials signs of winding down. Sitting in line at a Drive Thru for more than a few minutes, then driving home and having to reheat the food in the microwave, etc., is quickly making this "carry out" less and less attractive.

Isn't this type of bankruptcy like we're legally putting our bills on hold till we can pay them later? It's not giving up the business and closing its doors forever.
