Plans for New Year's Eve?

Got any plans to celebrate New Year's? We plan to stay in as usual, make a prime rib roast, some kind of luscious dessert (I'm thinking choc. cream pie), and watch movies? On the movies, I'm thinking Apollo 13 and maybe Terminator 1 and 2.

New Years evening/day is just another day on the calendar, for us. We're usually in bed well before midnight, and we've seen enough fireworks displays in the past.

We have black eyed peas and collard greens every New Years and have no idea if it has affected our luck.
I do try to stay up and watch the ball drop.

I pay up the bills and take out the trash to get ready for a fresh start in the new year. Other than that it’s just another quiet night.

I’m thinking about fried shrimp and French fries for my little New Years Eve celebration.

If it’s cold on New Years Day I’ll make a small pot of kale and bean soup.

On New Years Day I always take a few minutes to tally up my finances, rough out my income tax and come up with a loose budget for the coming year.

I also try to see how far into the new year I can get without spending any money. It’s just a little game based on the idea that the way the year starts is the way the year will go.

We are traveling to visit our extended family in Florida on New Year's Eve. Staying until January 4. Hopefully the flights will be smooth and relatively uncrowded. If we were staying home we would be asleep early.

Since its my birthday on New Years Eve, my daughter plans to order our favorite meals from Mamasitos(sic) and come over and eat with me. I will be asleep before midnight but will be woke up due to fireworks.

There is a Mama Sitos sauce that I buy. Maybe it’s a product of this restaurant. Even if it’s a knockoff, it’s delicious. Enjoy your birthday.

Yep! If you don't have blackeyed peas and cornbread on New Years Day, the whole next year will be dreadful. Didn't seem to work out so well the last couple years, though.

When I was a little kid, I promised myself that no matter what, I'd be in Times Square for New Years 2000.. And I was. That was a 45+ year promise, which I kept, so 2022 ain't no big deal. I just might go to bed.

Same here, except it was blackeyed peas and ham I always heard you were supposed to have on New Year's Day. And if I don't get to the stores before NYDay, it might have to be blackeyed peas and Spam this year.

my mom always made corn beef and cabbage for luck.even after we were adults we came over and had some.after my mom passed away my wife made it.she hated the smell but she still made it every year.
