Hugh problem came up with the bathroom vanity sink. Neighbors gathered to "offer wisdom."

Neighbor 1: "That type of pipe isn't made to last more than 20 years... you've been here 20 years and the house is even older!"
Neighbor 2: "Guy on the other side of you had that problem many years ago... had to dig out all around the house and tear some of the floor up."
Neighbor 1 again: "Yep, that's gonna be a $12K job sure as I'm standing here."
Neighbor 2 again: "Maybe someone cheaper would do it for $10K."

Called a plumbing contractor because I know he's *really* good even though more expensive. He just left... was here for 25 *minutes* and everything is all fixed and working great. My ol' nerves can't take much more of that! But lesson learned... don't talk to the neighbors unless I'm willing to be terrified! 🤫

Best to call the professionals to begin with. So many people act like they have the answer but don’t have a clue. Trust yourself to know the right answer which you did.
Thanks, Patty... and if that bill comes for a thousand dollars for his 25 minutes, it will have been worth every penny. 😊

Last time I called a plumber, last May, it was about $200/hour-- minimum 1 hour, which included a trip charge just to show up. It wasn't something I was able to do because I didn't have the equipment.
