Police arrest terminally ill man.

Starsong, we have speed cameras attached to nearly every traffic light in busy intersections, in my county. (It's a county thing). I've been caught more than once going ONE mile faster than I am allowed to, and had to pay a fine. If the speed limit is 30, you are allowed to go up to 40; if you get to 41, you are in trouble. People are always grumbling about it.

However, I agree about speed cameras not being placed in parking lots. I've never seen one, anyway.
that's what upsets people in some places in the UK... not everywhere but just some places depending on what county police force it is.. or how their automatic speed cameras are set..there are many variations

In this case the guy lives in the Midlands..( middle England ) and around where he lives they're red hot on the speed limit being strictly adhered to..

We wouldn't be permitted in the Uk to drive 10 miles over the limit as you are in your area Sunny, but here in the South where I live , there's a 10 % Buffer plus 2mph... so on a 30mph road we'd be permitted a max of 35mph before facing a fine... on a 70mph Motorway there's a buffer of up to 9mph..

I know a guy that about 50 years age mooned police offiers in their car. He lived to regret that because he got labeled as a pervert and was put on the Registered Sex Offender list for life.
Is that true?

We have a number of digital 24-hour speed indicators here in town that display your precise speed in green if you are within the limit, red if you are exceeding it. I don't know if it actually helps to keep you honest but it's an awfully good idea.

I should have said they're very rare in Los Angeles and other areas of CA and the US that I've visited over the past 10 plus years.

yes we have those too.. there's one on each road leading to my house.. they display the speed you're doing, and if over the speed limit it displays a a sad face with a red warning background.. and a green with a smiley face if your speed is correct

I love the idea of it. I wonder if it helps to reduce traffic violations?

What I said earlier is true. The person a man got back from serving in the Vietnam war and was parting/drinking with his friends. The were driving arround in a car whe he saw the police in their car and he mooned them. The police and judge threw the book at him. I agree he shoud not have received such a stiff penality. This is what I heard him say when we were at work. He complaind that being on the sex offender list had cost him promotions at work and dificulty finding jobs. He quit working and makes his existance by buying and selling automotive parts especially the race car parts and old vintage car parts. He was a helicopter crewchief during the Vietnam war just like I was.

I've been in many Chinooks in the Central Highlands but I was never put on anyone's sex offender list. I guess I was just lucky.

It has interested me how different social customs are different parts of the world. In some parts of the the world mooning can criminal but in other parts of the world is could be a form of social greeting.
