Well, this may make you shake your head, but the answer to your question is that I really don't know. I say that because it may be for a variety of reasons. A few of those reasons may be that it could have been a speed trap sting, which is highly likely, or the police may have received a tip that several vehicles of the same make, model and color were traveling in a certain direction, but only one or two may have been carrying contraband and the police wanted to be prepared to stop all 2012 Black Cadillac Escalades (as an example) that may come through in a half hour or hour time span. I used the vehicle Black Cadillac Escalade because that happens to be one of the vehicles of choice by peddlers.
It is no secret that the peddlers have been using this method of getting their LBJ to where they can sell it. Did you see any canine or aircraft in the area? This would also be a tip off that they may have been looking for runners. This is all that I can say about this.
