That's a key element "reasonable" request. Some tough guys simply say "Let me see your I.D. or you are going to jail", with no explanation, that type of encounter.

And you believe that it’s smart to resist that guy?

IMO every time you choose to poke the bear you run the risk of getting bit.

I believe that it’s better for everyone involved to comply, deescalate, and survive those encounters in the street than it is to be right.

No, I would not resist, because if he is staunch enough to do what I said, he is very capable of beating the hell out of me or killing me, and claim self defense.
