Pommie Backpacker Gaoled for Four Years

A 25 year old Pommie backpacker has been gaoled for four years for killing a pedestrian while riding an e-scooter while drunk in Perth

that's fair - treated same as drunk driving killing of someone driving a car.

and she wasn't just over the limit - she was 3 times over it.

I had to look up 'pommie' --- never heard that before.
Anyway, we are starting to have a large increase in accidents with e-bikes now. These newer models can go over 25mph and we're encountering them really speeding on bike trails (while we continue to ride 'traditional' bikes). A lot of injured people all over the states now.

It's a crazy world. Drink driving is illegal, and has been forever. I doubt there are many that don't know that. With the increase in speed of escooters, you'd think common sense would suggest that drink driving at 25mph in public is also illegal and can have consequences. Yet no. This person thought it was okay to do.
