Pop singer Cardy B throws microphone at unruly fan. Accused of lip syncing and facing battery charges.

Apparently the song never stopped. She never missed a beat(of music) apparently.

I saw it.. she was so busy throwing the mic at the audience member she forgot to keep miming.. and no-one turned the song off.....hilarious.

She's actually a complete underclass person... can't sing..anway,..and in this instance she was very wrong.. she asked the audience to throw water on her cuz she was hot, and when someone did.. she attacked them by throwing the Mic... missing the person who threw the water and hitting an innocent person

She didn't start it. She responded to being attacked first. Didn't know about the lip syncing.
The fans in the audience are completely out of control, throwing water, cell phones, etc. That is disruptive and unacceptable. I don't blame Cardy B for confronting the loon and showing that enough is enough. Good for her, if I paid to watch her perform, I would be very annoyed at the unruly "fan". This type of BS has got to be stopped, the performer should not have to deal with this bad behavior.

It looks like she asked the audience to throw water at her ***** not her face and someone threw water at her face.

When she threw the microphone she hit two women and one of them went to the police to make a report so there’s a chance she could be arrested regardless of who threw the water.

When she stopped singing, the voice did continue. That’s lip syncing.

I’m not sure how this is going to turn out but if you ask fans to throw water at you , then you shouldn’t be surprised if they throw water at you. That in itself was a bit crazy.

She’s probably going to need a lawyer and the fact that she’s lip syncing won’t go over well to paying fans. Nobody paying for a concert wants to hear a pre recorded version. They pay to hear a live voice.

Really strange how people jump to conclusions without even ā€œresearchingā€ the facts

Lip-sync has been banned at the Grammys since 2012.!!
What happened, however, is that instead of lip-syncing, Cardi B’s performances may have undergone a slight track augmentation. This means that the track, which includes the artist’s vocals, will be overheard by the audience even if the singer isn’t singing.

She is not the only artist to use track augmentation.
BeyoncƩ, BTS, Madonna, and even Queen used backing tracks during certain sets to name a few. Not a thing wrong with it.

There is a difference between lip syncing and track augmentation!!

This wasn’t the Grammys and many singers do have background tracks using their own voice when they want to enhance their performance but it’s never the melody, it’s additional harmony.

When this singer stopped singing, and it was for a very long time, it was the melody.
If the singer is singing the melody and stops singing but her voice continues singing the melody people don’t really care about what wording is used. They will feel ripped off.

I’ve been to a Madonna concert ( at Wonderland in mid -80’s) and she definitely has background vocals she’s pre- recorded to enhance her performance while she sings the MELODY.

This was NOT pre- recorded harmony and your average audience member doesn’t know the difference between lip singing, lip syc’ing and track augmentation and more importantly they don’t care. If they pay money to watch a performance then they expect the vocalist to sing the song. If the music stops and the melody vocals are still going, they don’t care what it’s technically called.

The reason why performers have background tracks is because the music they record is most often multi tracked. Many artists have background singers adding harmonies but not everyone wants that so they record multiple tracks which gives the songs more dimension. This way they end up sounding like the material they are selling.

They do the same with instrumentals.

These modern singers have no class. No talent. No class. Elvis, Buddy, Beatles, Peter, Paul, and Mary, Nat King Cole, Platters, Dusty Springfield, where are you when we need you?

Most are not around in 2023 like they were back in the day, those who are still alive anyway. Not fair to say that modern singers have no talent, and if you want to talk class, you have to address the fans also. Plenty of good artists these days who are very talented, and should not be dismissed IMO.

I've heard Cardi on Howard Stern Show being interviewed. The only explanation of her is that I'm too old to understand her attraction.

I am not a rapper or hip hopper. I don’t know WTH they are about … however… an artist, any artist has a right to go on stage and do their thing without being abused and physically hurt.

Another thing… I see written on this page a reference to ā€œClassā€ huh? So don’t tell me we have members of the Upper Crust among us (I thought I was the only one)!

Calling someone ā€œunderclassā€ is definitely not cool. Oh no siree. The meaning of underclass is the socioeconomic class with incomes below subsistence level, people who live in poverty, or have lived in poverty.
Referring to Cardi B (whom I have never heard of before today) as ā€œunderclassā€ is totally derogatory. So, upon researching, I learned that this rapper is from a wealthy family in New York City's Washington Heights neighbourhood of Manhattan. She is well recognized to be of American descent and practices Christianity.
Her current financial worth is $85 million.

You might want to learn a bit more about music recording before you post your comments. The difference between lip syncing and track augmentation is how it’s used . All you did was found a link and repeated what was said without understanding anything about it. This is the link you took it from.

An artist has every right to go on stage and preform without getting abused.

The reason there were so many audience members throwing water at her was due to the fact that she asked members to ā€˜splash her down’ since it was so hot , specifically requesting they splash her ā€˜pussy.’

Did she deserve to get splashed in the face? Of course not but surely she can understand that not everyone has perfect aim . Even if it was intentional , hurling a half pound microphone out at the audience was uncalled for. If she was ā€˜that’ angry, she should have walked away.

This isn’t the first time this rapper has thrown a microphone at someone. When she preformed at Drai’s Beach Club in Los Vegas she threw a mic at a DJ claiming he cut off her songs too early. Does this really justify her actions? The lawyers will figure that one out.

Being a singing celebrity doesn’t give them a right or a pass to be abusive to their audience.

There are many interesting things I learned in this thread; more complicating than it is on the surface.

I saw this yesterday. It looked to me like the audience was well oiled and ready for some danger. She did also, by requesting the water cool down. It was hot. Apparently THAT is Candy B's attraction. She is hot, and shows it off. Hotter. So if the temperature is rising there is going to be some consequences.

When you ask the audience to splash water on your private parts and an audience member misses the preferred area so gets a mic thrown at them, what’s the attraction?
