"Porch Pirates" not only steal your packages, they're stealing your mail.

I wish thieves didn't target "upper-class homes." Today, they don't care about security systems or cameras.
The house next door to me was rented by an elderly couple. Two guys broke in, beat both occupants & took whatever they wanted.
The couple spent weeks in the hospital. The house is owned by an NBA star & he sold it after that.
The new owners put big security gates in front.
That's horrible.

I can only speak to my area, where they usually hit middle class homes and older homes.

We're fortunate that in our condo, we have separate mail cubbies that we access with a key. Recently, we had Canada Post boxes installed, so that, if we receive a parcel through the post, it is put in one of the larger cubbies, and the key left in our mail cubby. Amazon and other deliveries (florist, food, etc) go to the security desk, and they phone us to pick up, or deliver to our door.

They do that here, too. They only started accepting deliveries in the office during covid. I hope they keep doing it, but probably not.

That's the first time I ever heard anyone stealing doormats. Either your doormats are very valuable and unique or the "low lives" in your area are really desperate. LOL As my older brother used to say, "Unbelievable!"
In one of those videos (in the orig.post) a lady steals a common doormat and a modest Christmas wreath in one swoop. Taken from her neighbor, in the middle of the night, caught on camera. Imagine inviting your neighbor over the next morning for coffee and videos. whee!
