Porch Pirates

We've got a double flood lamp motion light over the garage and the whole house is wired with ADT security and I've been kicking around getting some sort of camera installed for the front and maybe even the back also......I just need to get off my butt and get it done.
I have a security system on my house. I spent several hours on the phone today with the security company talking about various options for exterior cameras. I'll make a decision in the next day or so then give them the go ahead for the installation.

You need to check your carriers liability. Here in the UK, all carriers are responsible for the carriage of goods. That means if you didn't receive your item and the carrier says that it was left at your premises, all you have to do is ask for something known as: "Proof of Delivery."

How do you know that it wasn't the delivery driver, or his accomplice, or even if a delivery attempt was ever made? The fact that the courier has put the onus on you is deplorable. Don't let it rest Leann.
You are SO right @horseless carriage. It may be that the driver said the box was delivered but it really wasn't. I've though of that as one possibility. The goof news is that the company that I ordered the items from has said that they will send me a replacement if the original box doesn't appear in 3-5 days.

they get around that one here by taking a photo of the item on your doorstep.. then .particularly in the lead up to Christmas when there's likely to be more expensive stuff the driver walks off with it.. not having security cameras of any kind means you can't prove it..

I know for a fact drivers do this.. not only have I witnessed it from other people's security cameras online.. but my friend's brother is a UPS driver, and I can't tell you the stuff that he takes home to sell.. it's a Diabolical theft

I'm very sorry that happened. You never heard the van or truck pull up? Could they have delivered it to the wrong address? I got a box that belonged to someone in my apartment block at my door. The apartment # was actually mine and not hers. There was a mistake in the address.

And even with the correct address, they make mistakes. I once got a key in my PO box but when I opened the package locker, the package was not for me, so I gave it back of coarse. Some people wouldn't.

A gal who lives not that far from us recently got busted for stealing packages off another neighbor's porch. She was caught on camera while stealing, plus the camera even got the license plate number of her car. The video was turned into the police and posted on a local neighborhood watch site.

We have a doorbell camera plus I installed a floodlight cam to cover our cars in the driveway.

Even if I ever get a mobile in a park, I'd consider a camera system. People go through parks and complexes to steal garden decor and potted plants and take them to flea markets to sell. I keep things on the enclosed upstairs patio.
We once had our water hose in the front yard stolen. So we had to get another one hoping it wouldn't also get taken. Mrs. Hazy came up with the idea of wrapping our new hose with duct tape just below where it connects to the faucet, and make it ugly. That hose never left our yard.. ;)đźš°

Why not go to an airport and take luggage off the carousel?
I know that you were joking......BUT the airlines actually do employ people who collect the bags that were not picked up on the baggage area, to deliver to the customer's home address. Sort of a luggage courier system. When I used to ship things out of the Buffalo airport, I would run into the luggage couriers all the time. JimB.

I recall being stopped when leaving the carousel area. Someone was checking that the person and baggage ID matched. I think it only happed once though, can't remember where.
