Post a Picture of the nearest island off your coast

I already love it. :)

Goodness!

Yet the invasion failed? Piel islanders are a tough breed they are! 😡

With or without your wellies?

Not sure you'd love the town I live in. It's very much a rough and ready working class place but the coastline/beaches and countryside are only about ten minutes away and are beautiful and, as I said, unspoiled. Also got a lovely nature reserve and of course, the Lake District is about half an hour away. I lived in the Middle East as a child and teenager then back in the UK I have lived in some beautiful places. Enjoyed them all but this place is my home and I won't be moving. I just love the north west of England. One good thing is that not many people want to move to this town... ;)

With or without wellies... for me, it would be with. I don't like sand in my toes. 🤣

From my location, which is significantly inland, the nearest coastal island would be Anglesey, also known as the Isle of Anglesey. It lies about 270 metres (880 ft) across the narrowest point of the Menai Strait.

Beaumaris Castle on Anglesey. Looking east towards mainland UK -- Snowdonia mountains in the background.

I took the Holyhead-Dublin ferry back in '78.

Thanks for the post @ Magna-Carta. Brought back some memories. I lived in Llandudno for 4 years and went to Anglesey several times. A beautiful place. One night, my friend and I went to a dance at RAF Valley. That's one night I won't forget. We went in her car and on the way home it ran out of petrol on the bridge. The song that was playing on the radio was The 59th Bridge Street Song (Feelin' Groovy). Fortunately, other friends were following in their car and came to the rescue.

Perhaps not but your intro is lovely ...

... you see what I mean?

Okay, here's a pic of the "real" (?) Japan:

And according to brittanica.com (Japan | History, Flag, Map, Population, & Facts | Britannica), Japan is an *island* country; and the title of this thread asks for the nearest island off *my* coast and so drawing a straight line from where I live across my state and across the Pacific ocean to the nearest island is Japan.

Neither a picture, an island, nor nearest to the California coast.
The OP said "your coast", not "the California coast." Buy hey... Two out of three ain't bad.

We do have some amazing islands off of the California coast... But Isn't Porlock in England?

This is going off the rails now but there are several islands off the coast of any point in California that are closer than Japan, "straight line" or otherwise. Plus, Japan is not an island. Had you said Honshu (for example) then we'd have something to discuss. But this really is teetering off the rails so I have no further comment to make.

Thimble Islands

Take a boat tour around this stunning archipelago off the Connecticut coast. You’ll learn about the area’s history and spot picturesque houses and plenty of marine life along the way.

Isle of Man, Holly?

isle of dogs.jpg
The Isle of Dogs; so called, because when our former Monarchs made Greenwich their country seat, they used it for hunting. The problem with that explanation is that the horseshoe shape only became an "Island" when the West India Docks were built in the 19th century, by which time it was a built up area.

The area inside the horseshoe shape is Millwall, London E14. You can read here a brief precis of the history of London's "Island."

Isle of Dogs is not really what we'd call an island..
