Powdered Laundry Detergent Issue

That's what I always use. But it's becoming less popular. Aldis doesn't carry it, so I went to Walmart. There was one side of a whole long isle filled top to bottom of all brands of liquid laundry detergents, and one small section that I almost missed that carried but a few boxes of the powder. It comprised maybe 3% of the entire inventory of laundry detergents. What am I missing? The liquid seems like something I would end up spilling where it runs down between the washer and the drier, where I couldn't clean it up. That's the main bias I have against it. I like liquid dishwasher detergent, but there is no danger of spillage involved there.

Sheesh, talk about a major topic. It was just on my mind. No wait! Please, Please, help me!😩
 

Most people use liquid Pods.... no mess...

I've been using these too, just a different brand.

I don't like the liquid....why pay for water? Plus those jugs are plastic.

Powders are scarce; pods are pricey.

I won't go back to the others if I am not forced to. I love how much less softener I now use with these because clothes come out softer
from the wash. I basically use softener sheets for the static cling more than to soften. I may try my load today with no liquid softener so I can do away with that big ol plastic bottle too. Hope it works

I haven't bought the dry in regular stores for so long, until now, so I was surprised. Over the last several years I have bought the extra large (that is the Costco version of extra large), but the last time I was there I forgot to pick one up, and I ran out. But the sheets and pods sound like possibilities. So I'll have to pay attention to costs. I'm big on costs.

I use the same, order them online or as you wrote Walmart has them.
They work very well, and are easy peasy to use.

One thing also with sheets, they are premade for a full load, if you wash a half load, you just cut the sheet in half, no measuring
 
The residue from powder is most noticeable on dark clothes. It shows up like white streaks. I use liquid only. There is no danger of me spilling liquid beside the washer because I go to the sink, and pour the desired amount of detergent from the container into the lid, then pour the lid directly onto the clothes before starting the washer. I've never used those built in dispensers on the washer that detergent is supposed to be poured into. Every site will tell us that is just WRONG, but it's never caused me (or my washer, or my clothes) any issues.

Some are perforated.

I won't use fabric softener on any towels. They just don't dry well,,,too oily.

Whoa, that's a good price for 100-200 loads! I was just reading some of the reviews... only one thing concerns me and maybe you can help with an answer. Do they dissolve in the cold water loads? Some reviewers are saying no, but I use the cold water setting pretty often. @RedAlert76
 
@JustDave: Costco sells powdered laundry detergent, as do Walmart, Target and probably others. I just checked them on line.

I personally use Costco's liquid "Ultra Clean Free & Clear" (clear and unscented). Like others here, I switched to liquid when powdered detergent failed to dissolve completely and it became difficult to find unscented detergents. I have pods for the RV and when using AirBNBs with laundry facilities, but at home I prefer deciding how much detergent a particular load needs.

I'll sometimes run a load of wash through the first agitation cycle without soap to see how much, if any, residual soap is being left on our clothes. If there are a lot of bubbles, I start cutting back.
