average adult (American, I assume) spends $400/year on lottery games, and in Massachusetts the average is $900.
That said, I bought 4 tickets for tonight's Powerball drawing, but only because in my state you can buy them online and I had about $12 left in my account. I almost never buy lottery tickets. I don't believe in them, and I don't have a lot of money to spend on things like that (i.e., gambling). But heck—the thought of more than $1 billion is kinda enticing, ha ha.
