Prayers needed for my wife.

ken, she's coming along great... can you tell us what happened to her, what was the extent of her Brain damage ? was it sudden?
She had a seizure where she lost memory and had slurred speech..We thought she was having a stroke..in the hospital, they took various scans and found she had a none malignant growth on the top of her brain. During surgery, they had to dig deeper to get that growth that was starting to invade the brain..This caused swelling of the brain and she temporally lost the use of her left side, similar to a stroke patient..The swelling is subsiding and motion action is slowing returning..

Oh wow...how very frightening for you all... was she aware it was happening at the time.. who found her ?

Please don't feel you have to answer any of my probing questions if you would rather not..:)

We had just returned from a trip and she was on the couch having a cup of tea when the seizure happened..

Research of the growth showed that that happens to older women!!
A meningioma is a tumor that arises from the meninges — the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord. Although not technically a brain tumor, it is included in this category because it may compress or squeeze the adjacent brain, nerves and vessels. Meningioma is the most common type of tumor that forms in the head.

Most meningiomas grow very slowly, often over many years without causing symptoms. But sometimes, their effects on nearby brain tissue, nerves or vessels may cause serious disability.

Meningiomas occur more commonly in women and are often discovered at older ages, but they may occur at any age.

Sending warm thoughts and love to both of you. I wish your wife the best, happy she has the support of such a loving family. 🧡

Her mom is 102? Oh, I don’t think you have anything to worry about. It helps to have good genes. My Gramps died at 88 and Grandma lived to be 97. Grandma was still helping on the farm when she died. Went to bed one night and never woke up.

About 5 years ago, our friend had the tumor that you described. It took her a while & it was slow at first, but she recovered & is doing well. She still goes for scans that have been spread out to every year now. It's my understanding that if all goes well with the next, they may stop them or spread them out farther.

Prayers to all of your family & especially to your wife for a speedy recovery. She looks like a very determined lady in your pictures.

Update" She is responding great to Physical Therapy..They have her up and using a walker. Her left arm is getting stronger as is her left leg. Yesterday she too 260 steps down a hallway.. Her spirits and attitude iare great. She can dress herself with a little help from the nurse..

Again thank you all for the kind thoughts and prayers,it truly means a lot to us... 💓

Take that PT seriously. And make sure she gets lots of high quality protein. As we age we lose our ability to process protein efficiently. She needs it rebuild muscle.

I learned a while back that as I grow older I am going to have more pain here and there. The question is: Do I want to be strong and in some pain or weak and in some pain?
