President's Day

Lincoln's and Washington's birthdays used to be two separate holidays (Feb 12 and 22, respectively), but in 1971, the U.S. Congress combined the two and designated the third Monday in February be observed as "President's Day" - another day for stores to have sales, apparently.

In the early 50s Washington's birthday was a State holiday here in WA. Of course we goofy urchins of that time thought it outrageously funny to call it "George Birthington's Washday".

Did you know,:geek:
that Grover Cleveland served 2 non-consecutive terms as U.S. President, and therefore was both the 22nd and the 24th Presidents. ;)
And that is why the numbers don't matchup, when you number the presidents, as he is counted twice. o_O:LOL:

I looked for a movie last night about either Washington or Lincoln. I've already seen Steven Spielberg's Lincoln twice and it will be probably another ten years before I've forgotten it, so that was out.

What I did find was a Ken Burns documentary series about the Civil War. I watched the first episode last night and it's pretty good. I'll watch another this evening. I think you have to subscribe to PBS to be able to watch it with a streaming app, but it's available to anyone online.
