Prince Andrews' Accuser Virginia Roberts, accused ...

No it never will while these stupid women come forward. Now it is all about how much money they can get.
I am not condoning the acts of Epstein et al but I do think some of these women could have just walked away.

In my younger years I had several encounters with men who thought they could take advantage but I always found a way out.
One time when I was out with a young man, he was a lawyer...hmmmm...well...we were at the cinema and he kept taking my hand and putting it where I did not want it to be. I was about 19 at that time.
I, of course kept pulling away but he eventually got rougher so I said excuse me I have to go to ladies room first.
Well I just picked up my purse, left the theatre and hopped a bus home.
He had the gall to call me at my office next day and ranted at me in what I could now call verbal abuse but I just hung up and that was that. End of..

yes I found myself in similar circs with men when I was younger , Mizmo ..and like you found excuses and ways to get out of it... what's laughable about these women was that they were paid escorts.. prostitutes in essence... so how long before we hear of a street madam wanting to sue her 'john'...?

Agree here, and good for you.

So many of these women claim that they did not speak out / come forward at the time because "he" was socially powerful etc. Well if they didn't care enought to speak out then , 6 months. six years, 20 years ago ........ then don't ecpect me to care all this time later.

While some may indeed be looking for a payday more than justice, please don't get carried away with the generizations that essentially blame victims.

There are Childhood sexual abuse survivors, both male and female who did not come forward at the time because their abusers (often a family member, family 'friend', or an authority figure like a priest) had them convinced that even if anyone believed them no one would care enough to protect them. Worse some abusers threaten not only their victims but other beings-- family or animals.

The man who raped my sisters and probably many others in the children's home they were in for some 3-4 years lured the youngest (she was preschool age in early 1940's) of them to the furnace room with a litter of young kittens. Blood got on her long johns and he burned them in furnace. She knew she'd get in trouble for not having them anymore, but he threatened to throw the kittens in the furnace if she told anyone the truth.

She has never acknowledged the assault out loud, nor did she in a memoir excerpt she wrote and sent me. But she shared all those other details over the years. I suspect she has a disassociative block against remembering the act itself---many survivors do for many years or their whole lives. But she focused all her pain and anger on the fact she got punished for 'losing' her long johns when she didn't actually. And it affected her deeply. Including always seeking to place blame (even natural occurrences that are inconvenient) others for things before someone blames her.

No-one has said anything about blaming Victims... see how quickly these threads change ?...the talk is about people who were being paid for sexual favours... and were of age... and were not enslaved..

oh, sure but you all do ubderstand, that many of those damaged by the Epstein group were under age when they were used and abused and did not have many options at the time, because yes indeed the people involved had & have $$ and power.

More than one of you mentioned the time-lapse in reporting, which is so common among under age victims (as is traumatic memory blocks) that some jurisdictions have made laws the statue of limitations on the crime begin from the point at which the survivor remembers the assault.

Sorry to have interrupted whatever you feel this discussion is, it hit me differently. I'm out.

I don't want to take thread further off-topic, but must address what you said about your sister... as you said she was preschool age at the time, it was likely that as a small child she simply did not understand what had happened to her (in addition to the fear that the creep caused).

I might get a lot of flak over this, but I do not believe individuals (regardless of age) have 'blocks' or 'forget' traumas, and then 'remember' years or decades later. This approach, which is coming up a lot these days, is really no different from the 'repressed/recovered memory' mess that started decades ago.
