Prince William Rehearses Trooping the Colour is this the Future

is what the future ?
Prince William covering for the Queen, at all the big ceremonies
that involve horses and bands and lots of troops, then keep the
job when his father takes over.

All before he inherits the crown.

The trooping of the colours will be live on the BBC at 10 AM UK,
it might be streamed in other countries, especially as it is a big
occasion, 70 years on the throne.

Dumb American here. If a 90 year old Queen was previously officiating at this event, why can't her 60+ year old son perform the duties?
Charles is 73 and also and equestrian - he plays polo. They’ve probably made a plan to spread the duties out.

That isn't a dumb question fuzzybuddy, we also wonder.

I haven't seen or heard of Prince Charles on a horse for
many years, he used to play polo, but there is no word
that he still does.

As he is now 73 years old, maybe he isn't fit enough to
get up on a horse again.

Prince William is being groomed for the job and he is
only 40 years old, you have to remember that the Queen's
mother lived till she was 101 years old when she passed,
so the Queen could easily outlive her oldest son.

For those who don't know.........The tradition of "trooping the colours " goes back a few hundred years, when most soldiers were unable to read. By having the unit's 2 colours slowly marched through the ranks, the men would learn to recognize them. The modern day ceremony is a intricate military operation that requires a lot of practice to get it right. Those Guardsmen are all trained soldiers who perform various types of military jobs, as infantry, armoured vehicle crews, and recce squadrons. The Guards Division is comprised of the most senior infantry unit in the British Army the Coldstream Guards, followed by the Grenadier Guards, the Scots Guards, the Welsh Guards, and the Irish Guards. The Coldstream Guards have been serving the Crown for 372 years now making them the longest continually serving military unit in the world. JimB.

Military veterans tonight claimed that Prince William's horse looked 'drugged' during today's rehearsal for the Queen's annual birthday parade, Trooping the Colour.

The Duke of Cambridge, 39, rode a black Household Division charger, named George, as he went through the practice inspection - known as the Colonel's Review - in central London.

One unnamed source told MailOnline: 'William's horse looks drugged. Its head is on the floor. It's a disgrace.'

A Clarence House spokesman declined to comment.

For the event, William wore his red and blue military uniform adorned with medals, which he teamed with the traditional bearskin hat as he sat on the charger, also festooned in ceremonial regalia.
