Problem with my neighbour - time to confront?

The following is a post she wrote about the Holocaust, featured in Fuzzy's thread on Tattoos.
"My father was given a tattoo when he was in his late teens, before he left the old country. We couldn't bury him as a result."

She's wrong about the burial part, btw. I managed to say nothing in return, three cheers for me!
I thought you were mistaken, so I did some Googling.. turns out you're correct.
One of those 'learn something new every day' things.

I caught that one about the tattoo also. The key word was "given" which suggested he'd been in a concentration camp. Even the most orthodox Jewish cemetery with the most persnickety of rabbis and cemetery overseers wouldn't have turned his body away. However, by that time there was no point because I'd already made this pronouncement on the financial thread he/she/it had started:

"Smells like a provoking troll standing on a steaming pile of bull**** to me."

Just realized this post was alluding to the KKK. When I read it several days ago I wondered what she was talking about when she said she's doing a lot less white laundry. The penny dropped just now...

She presumably thought her stories were entertaining and witty but they largely landed with a thud.

This reminds me of the old Dear Abby newspaper column. One time there was a convoluted story that Abby published with straightforward advice. A few weeks later Abby would wrote an aside to readers that she and many readers had been particularly concerned about that writer's situation so she tried to reach out personally to offer more help.

After being being unable to contact the person she investigated further. Turned out that the return address didn't match the envelope's college town postmark, and the postmark's timing was more than a little suspicious. She concluded that the story was cooked up by bored students who didn't have the money to spend spring break in Fort Lauderdale with their friends and apologized to any readers who'd been concerned about the writer's supposed terrible predicament.
Really? You are probably right in view of her other posts. But I thought this one was about, well, her husbands white underwear. 😂

I read and occasionally post on a huge forum site (can we mention names?) that has many, many posts full of wondrous tales, most of which are totally unbelievable.

I have a theory that a creative writing or psychology professor gives an assignment to his class each year to write a post that's "off the wall" and if it sucks in enough responders who think it is for real, they get an "A". Extra credit for starting a fight.

Forums love this kind of thing because it brings up their "hit" count.

I did at first, too, but then put it in context with the rest of the paragraph. Fraternal organization, men only - wives excluded. Bi-weekly campfires in the woods, target parctice, traveling to other states to join marches...

KKK signalling.

Hmmmmm. Troll or not which I am beginning to think he/she/it is not a troll or flamer since he/she/it has not met the TOS definition but a member who throws an inflammatory stink bomb into a dark room then backs out while the membership tries to tear the newbie a new one. "Six Pages and counting"
