This month, August 17, is the anniversary date of his passing.
Remember it like it was yesterday.

I do too, I found out about it at a gas station in Nevada. I was working for the Forest Service driving a radio truck from Wyoming to a fire in California. The "radios" were all Forest Service the truck had no regular radio to listen to commercial channels.

Remember that too! While i never was the swooning or screaming type of fan, of anyone or group, i did appreciate Elvis' talent.

When I got to work my employer said, "I am surprised you made it in today". I said "why is that?" He said "Because Elvis died." I agree with feywon, he was talented but I was not into swooning either.

Elvis was and still is my favorite singer. He died a month after my daughter was born. I cried like a baby.
