Jumping cars is more dangerous than most people realize. Here's a new one. Guy at work had a Prius when they first came out and one fine afternoon it would not start. He and another guy actually jumped it. Unfortunately, I had work to do (darn the job thing) and couldn't stick around to learn the process.

Yes it works with Diesel.
I tried a to tow start a landrover deisel and broke the tow rope as compression was so high.Had to use top gear in the end to start

back in the day, we would put the car in gear, hold the clutch in and either roll it down a good incline or push it (several strong boys helped here) and pop the clutch to start it. Then always leave it running for about 15 minutes, or go drive it to charge the battery.
