I was diagnosed several years ago with this heart condition. Doc says it is non life threatening, but it scares me when it hits. It is caused by an electrical signal getting mixed up in my heart. I can be sitting and relaxed and my heart rate will go up to 185 bpm and can stay like that for a couple hours.
Going thru it right now. You can visibly see my chest pounding. After it tapers off I feel exhausted like I ran for 2 hours at full speed. There is treatment options, mostly going in and cauterizing a spot on my heart. Very high success rate with that. But I hate the thought and cost of having it done. Any else in this boat or had the procedure done?

I had that happen to me once. My heart rate shot up to around 200. Luckily I was already at hospital for another appointment and rushed into urgent care. I'm on heart medication now. It was strange because I felt something in my head just before it happened. Haven't needed any procedures yet.

I've suffered from A-Fib episodes since I was 28 years old (51 years ago). What you go through and how it makes you feel seems similar to what I've experienced when having more severe attacks. I had a milder one yesterday and even that one sit me down. I felt so drained that I couldn't do anything. I used to get them more often and more severely, but a cardiac ablation a little more than 10 years ago, cured them temporarily. I didn't have attacks for about 7 years. They are slowly coming back, but are less frequent and less severe.

I had a cardiac catheterization some years before the ablation and it really didn't help. I was in the hospital for almost 48 hours with the ablation but was an outpatient with the cath. I didn't have to pay anything either time. The ablation literally changed my life. I finally decided to get it because the attacks were coming more frequently and lasted longer. One time I was sick for two weeks with it.

How often do you get those attacks JlHog?
@Jules When did you husband have the ablation? My "new" cardiologist told me mine last longer than most, which is about 6 years. The cardiologist who performed the procedure mentioned the success rate but didn't tell me how long I could expect the relief to last. He moved out of state about a year later.

I hope you find some relief from your heart condition @jlhog .
🤗

Keep us posted.

I have what they are calling a heart murmur, one of the valves in my heart does not open and close properly.
I need to take medication for high blood pressure to ease the symptoms.

My Son said maybe I need to put some gas in it and keep going.. (him trying to make me laugh of course).

It seems like ages ago, yet it’s only been 4 years. The Afib started about a decade ago.

Diva, I hate to think about you having attacks again. They wipe one right out. Scary too.
Thank you so much for your concern Jules❣️ Yes, the episodes definitely drain me, even the mild ones. Before the ablation, they really kicked me. I have literally had them so bad that sometimes I felt I was going to die. Years ago and years apart, I fainted three times in the apartment. Scared my poor son half to death. .Blessedly it was not outside on the ground.

Hopefully your husband will go as long as I did, or longer without having attacks. I went about 8 years. If they do return, they will likely be milder and not last as long.

I am not asking for any personal information @jlhog but I have 2 questions for you.

1) Do you have any Medical Insurance and/or any Assistance programs in your area that could help you financially with medical bills?

2) Have you gotten a second opinion of your diagnosis or did you see one Doctor.
