purses

My fanny pack, a black clutch purse, a white clutch purse, and the back pack I wore when I went trail riding because I have never used a saddle.

I'm not a purse person. If we ever get to talking shoes, I was the Imelda Marcus of the OH/PA border back when I could wear hooker heels without killing my back - lol lol lol

I'm not a purse person either, I never use them. I put my wallet and checkbook in my pant pocket and go on my way. I only have three old ones, a casual shoulder-bag and a white and a black dressy purse.

I have a tiny day-pack that I use when I have to carry water for the dog at the park in summer, or something like that. Never had a lot of shoes either, always hated to wear heels, and only did so when I had to.

I think that what you call a purse, we here in Australia ( and UK ) call a handbag and we keep our money c/cards etc in our purse which we then carry in our handbag, so what do you call a handbag? a totebag is just a large handbag too.

A purse and a handbag are the same thing.

A tote bag is a big cavernous "thing" that can hold enough stuff to go on an overnighter and lose your arm forever if you have to go searching for the checkbook or car keys - lololol

IMHO, it is something no woman needs to be carrying around in the stores because it just reeks of "steal something from me". It has been my observation in life that, the bigger the purse or tote bag, the less attention that woman is paying to her surroundings :concern:

I don't know how many purses a woman can have, but I know how many a dog can have. We had a little female schnauzer some years back that had some neurological problems. At times she would take to wandering aimlessly about like she was looking for something. I used to say that Sassy had lost her purse again and was looking for it. One day I found a small plush purse with a stuffed schnauzer in it. I took the stuffed animal out and gave her the purse. That became her favorite thing to carry around for several years. She passed and the purse went onto one of the pups that eventually came to live with us, but I can still see her cute face carrying that purse.

As for purses I love them too, especially leather. A lot of mine have an equine theme, one suede with a snaffle bit on the front, one fabric one with polo ponies, one that looks like braided reins for the strap. Shoot, even my set of luggage has horses on it. Funny thing is, I have a very small leather Coach purse, bought on eBay mucho years ago that is my go to purse. It's only big enough to hold my wallet, sunglasses and keys snugly. I have almost worn this thing to death, but can't give it up. I detest wrestling a purse around and am known to carry only my wallet in my bra when shopping. I only have one really large purse, more a bag that I use for trips, but I hate trying to find stuff in a large purse.

Are any of you ladies designer purse snobs, or do you just go for style or function? I do like Coach, they have nice leather, but will only buy the older classic ones on eBay. I've gotten a couple of nice ones there. I refuse to pay what they want retail for a little piece of leather with a Coach tag attached.

I don't know why I like purses, I hate to carry them and have lost them on more than one occasion:confused:??

Very sweet story, thanks for sharing. :glittered:

Tote bags are awesome!

Purses are one of my favourite things to collect. And suitcases. And bags to organize stuff in my purses & suitcases. The past couple of years I’ve been very good and limited my purchases. I’ve switched to a PacSafe backpack purse for my daily walk.

Here too. I find it very confusing, especially as more and more Americanisms are creeping across the Atlantic.
A purse is what a woman keeps her money in. A wallet is what a man keeps his money in. A handbag is a receptacle for a women's bits and bobs which she carries around with her.

I don't know how many purses a woman can have. All I know is that purse she now has is horrible. It's the wrong color. It's the wrong material. It's the wrong shape. It's too baggy. It doesn't have enough pockets. The straps are all wrong. It's not roomy enough. It's too heavy. The zipper is all wrong. It's not in style. It was too expensive. The mirror is too small. I know I will spend the next four weekends in 38 shops, looking for the perfect purse. After looking at every purse on the planet, we find the right purse. But we're not going to buy it, because it's not on sale., After another 38 stores, and we buy a purse ON SALE. It's the perfect purse, until we get it home. Then it's all wrong. It's the wrong color..........................

I have 3, with one being my main and favourite purse... the one I reach for 99% of the time.

A hobo bag.

I carry one of those great big ol' tote bag kind of purses. I hate having to carry that big of a bag, it's done a number on my shoulders & upper back but since I can't go more than 5 minutes without my kleenex, cough drops & allergy pills, I gotta have it with me whenever I leave the house.

I have several at this time, but they are stored away in cloth bags. Normally, I use a handbag for a few seasons, then I switch to another. My daughter and I recycle our bags with her MIL. At this time, I've been using my favourite smaller cross-body bag for going on over a year. It's lighter weight, and I've gotten used to not carrying as much as I used to .. just the bare necessities.
