Push...please explain this to me

It reads at the bottom of my screen that Senior Forums would like my permission to enable Push notifications. I have not clicked on it as I want to know what it entails if I do

The "Push" notifications pushes a little notification to whatever page you are on your computer, even a different website. Your notifications are also called Alerts, and are normally seen at the top right of the forum page next to your User Name, the small Bell icon that you click on to see if you received a Like, etc. So, if you get a Like, etc., no matter where you're browsing online, you should see a small pop up box alerting you of a notification that you received here.

You can enable it and if you don't like it you can disable it, that's what I've done, seeing my notifications/alerts on this site only via the Bell icon is good enough for my liking.

If you click on your User Name at the top right of the webpage, click on Preferences, and you can choose the things you would like to be alerted about, there's also the choice there to enable/disable Push Notifications. Always click Save changes at the bottom when you're done.

In other words, can we interrupt you with the latest Seniorforum tidbit when you are busy doing something else.
Some people use Push Notifications on their various devices, it's completely a choice as to whether someone wants the convenience of them or not. It's not interruption when it's voluntary.

Many thanksfor the explanation and I now understand what a Push does if the option is chosen.
Seabreeze, like you I prefer to pop on the forum and read my Alerts. I had 17 this morning😆The problem is some are repeated and multiple Alerts from some members and times within minutes of eachother. Is there any way Alerts can be deleted once read?

You're welcome CrackerJack, I don't think there's any way for you to delete the alerts, they stay there for reference and show as 30 on a page for you. The alerts are not repeated, nobody can give more than one Like to any post, so each alert stands on its own. You can however go into your Preferences and choose not to receive any alerts for Likes from other members.

The muliple likes etc: Im wondering it may be a technical issue. I see the timings on the Likes are the same on each repeat and at times up to six Likes which i realise is not a member doing mulitple Likes and a possible technical glitch maybe only affecting me?

Ok I will adjust my Preferences re. Likes but its nice to see them ofcourse.😊

I'm sorry. I should not have been disrespectful. My bad.

There are lots of Options on this forum and I am gradually getting the picture. Ive belonged to many forums and all UK sites but wanted a forum with a good selection of Music Threads and these it has and also lots of other Threads that Iv'e been enjoying since joining.

Not heard of the Push option and never seen an Alert Option on a site and I do enjoy both. Maybe it's general in the United States for layouts like this forum has?

All I know is that Members and the Moderators have been friendly and helpful a key reason to keep logging on (y) :)
