Siberia’s wildfires are bigger than all the world’s other blazes combined

The devastating wildfires of 2021 are breaking records and satellites are tracking it all

Wildfires in Siberia have broken a record for annual fire-related emissions of carbon dioxide.

Some fires everywhere, the smoke should block the sunlight and
cause temperature drops in other areas, I think.

When reading about these wildfires and seeing them on the news,
I often wonder, "What would Red Adair do"?

When all the oil wells in Kuwait were set on fire during the first Gulf
war, he was the only one with a solution!

He used small Jet Engines to blow water on the fires and sometimes
only the exhaust from the engine would put them out, nobody today
seems to have any suggestions I fear.

can't read the Washington post I'd have to pay ( although I read your first link RR..... but this is Yakutia I believe and the area is absolutely Vast.... in the Siberian wilderness, where small villages and towns are and temps reach the lowest of all of Russsia in winter ( co-incidentally I made a post about the cold just a few days ago with videos)>. however in summer , as it is today the temps reach up to 80 deg f

apparently..
....In recent years, Russia has recorded high temperatures that many scientists regard as a result of climate change. The hot weather coupled with the neglect of fire safety rules has caused a growing number of fires.

Experts also blame the worsening fire situation on a 2007 decision to disband a federal aviation network that spotted and fought wildfires. The network’s assets were transferred to regional authorities, a much criticized move that led to the fire-spotting force’s rapid decline.

The forests that cover huge areas of Russia has made identifying new fires a challenge and little chance of keeping them contolled before they become infernos .

In Spain and Greece when there's wild fires which happens regularly in summer, and spread fast...they use helicopters to douse the flames...

I doubt this will affect any "Ain't no damn Climate Change". people. There are just some people, who "believe" what they believe, and there's no letting facts and common sense get in the way of that belief. If you arrange to give every person $1,000,000, there would be some who would bitterly oppose it. I chalk it up to Darwin. Those are just born different.

I wonder what size of a fire gap would be needed to contain
these fire and stop the spread?

Chop the woods into city blocks, countries could use the wood
to earn money, it would need to be patrolled and the dimensions
held firm.

Mike.
