Now that is scary.
I just to have to ask if you are scared and frightened about just going out to take care of normal routines just like me. I keep asking myself if I am the only person worried about mantaining a normal life. Everywhere we go these days, there are shootings, attacks, innocent people that are caught in these situations. It scares the crap out of me. I am always looking, aware of who is around me, it is a horrible way to live but it is the real life we live today. I just wonder if I am the only one? I live a much smaller life now than I ever thought I would.
I have no control over what fate has in store for me, so no, I'm not scared to do my normal routine things. I take normal precautions but I don't even think about a shooter going beserk in Walmart while I'm there. I have other real problems to think about without adding "what if" scenarios to the list. I just can't live like that.

I'm always vigilant when out and about now, too, @Blessed ... but I do make a big effort to not let it control what I do. It got worse for me when those mostly irrational things from 10-15 years ago started happening in my area. Suddenly I could no longer tell myself "now you stop that, you're being silly" because those fears did come to pass and continue doing so on the front page of my local paper.

He at least understands proper trigger safety. Situational awareness will help you in most situations. It's not like that here, but it could so easily be.
No doubt that young man in the picture is in a high crime area but as we have seen any area can turn into high crime at a moment‘s notice. I don’t live in fear but I am much more aware than I used to be.
I use my alarm system and double check it. I very seldom go out at night and I make sure to get gas during the day. The car is locked in the locked garage, etc.
Crime is up here and police are down. They are understaffed and it’s futile to try to get their attention unless it’s very serious.
I have a handicapped parking sticker now (after a fall earlier this year) and I use it so the distance into a business is short.
One of the more annoying dangerous issues here is street racers. There have been some horrible big accidents at night on major roads. Do you have this where you are?

I haven't heard much about it in my area recently. (In the 70s it was a huge problem.) Certainly not on my street... there's a cemetery at the end of the short street... those li'l whippersnappers are probably too scared.
Yes, there is the street racers, and many of them have been hurt/ killed or done the same to innocent people by their foolish behavior.
