Some times the solution to a big problem is a simple one. In Quebec, ice storms are a common thing, and when the ice gets too heavy, the long distance power lines can break under the weight of the ice. This causes power outages that can black out thousands of homes and business operations. Now a simple solution is being applied. Industrial size drones with a six foot wing span, with a six foot long plastic rod at the end of a 50 foot nylon rope. The drone swings the rod at the ice covered line and shatters the ice coating, which drops to the ground. here is a link to the news story.

I wonder how long it will take for American power line companies to catch on to this simple idea ? JIM.

JIM, all the drones in the US are involved in secret government operations to determine the average American's amount of navel lint, or it's the Chinese/Russians/Romulans/ Other Aliens doing that.

What could go wrong? Hoping no rope entanglement blacks out two Provinces for a month in the depth of a bitter January cold snap.
