Our Queen, I know that there are several here who like and admire,
the Queen and like to hear stories attached to her.

The Queen is a trained vehicle mechanic and an ambulance driver,
these occupations, were her position in the Army during WWll, she
did all the training to attain the position, she drove ambulances through
London during, or after bombing raids.

Interesting information I think, so she knows life outside a Palace better
than we who were born outside and have never lived in one.

Mike.

The Queen has worn many hats and a scarf or two.

I've always enjoyed the little glimpses of Her Majesty's family life as a mom or granny.

I have always admired her because she has remained composed and dignified during her tenure on the throne, despite scandals that have been associated with The Royals. I'm sure she must secretly be riding a Peloton to still be healthy at 95 y/o.;)

The Queen is an icon. She's well into her 90s. That brings up something I've wondered about.
Because of her long reign, her successors in the foreseeable future will be very old men. The Queen is an obvious mother figure. She wears tiaras, jeweled necklaces, and flowing gowns- all super regal looking. An old guy wearing a suit, and a sash doesn't really have the same effect. I wonder if this succession of "old geezers" to the throne may not be popular.
Of course, I am a "Merkin", and not a Brit.

well most other Monarchs in the world are men, so I would imagine that PC will not be any different... plus he will have Camilla now as Queen... so that will soften the blow for some...and then it will be William and Catherine who will still be young when they ascend the throne

Having Camilla by the future King's side won't soften the blow for me.

My hope is that Prince William and his young family be allowed to share the spotlight with Charles and help define the future of the monarchy.

IMO the next three Kings will have a difficult time distinguishing themselves in leadership roles while being constantly compared to Queen Elizabeth II.

Her Majesty The Queen will definitely be a tough act to follow.
