Queen may be unable to return to public Royal Duties after pandemic

The fact that she's persisted as long as she with the responsibilities and duties of her monarchy makes me wonder if she doesn't just enjoy the life, which is why she hasn't retired before now. I'm guessing she doesn't find the work onerous, rather I think it probably keeps her going. I doubt there's anyone who could have faulted her for retiring from public life if she'd wanted to! She's been past retirement age for a loooooooong time!!

She's earned her rest but seems to be holding onto the throne like grim death. I feel sorry for Charles. He's spent his life as an understudy for a role he may never get to play.
I honestly thought she was just trying to reign longer than her great Grandmother Queen Victorias' 66 year stretch, and then hand over to Charles once she'd taken the record for the longest reigning Monarch in the Great Britain, Canada, and the Commonwealth countries...but no, it seems she might be going to the longest record in Europe which is over 72 years.. :D

Most of us in the States know relatively little about European governments and monarchies, and I'm not exception.

My friends at Wikipedia show Louis XIV to be history's longest reigning European monarch of a sovereign state. Of course, Louis had a head start, ascending at 4 years old (if my math is correct).

I already learned something today and it's still early here on the West Coast!

exactly SS, and he reigned for 72 years.. so I'm thinking our Monarch is trying to beat him now and become the longest reigning European Monarch

She has already stepped back from many routine and ceremonial duties and Charlesn and to a lesser extent William, has move to the fore.

The greatest obstacle to the Queen taking it easier is the Queen. She doesn't recognise the term.
