Question About Air Fryer Thingies

I have had a Ninja Max AF for about two years. I use it for lots of things - steak, bacon, baked potatoes, fish, salmon, french fries, burgers, chicken, cookies - almost limitless. I recently saw a recipe for cheesecake in the AF I want to try. It’s easy to clean. I usually just put the basket in the dishwasher.

I'm making fish and chips this evening with the chips being air fried. They're not quite as good as oil fried, but good nonetheless. And no splatter on the stove to clean up... at least not from the fries.
If you use frozen Fries, you can cook them in the AF with nothing added.. try to remember to shake them half way through for even cooking. If however you're making home-made potato fries, you really need to Par boil them for 5 minutes first, then dry them and spray them with oil before AFrying to get them to taste as good as deep fried..

I find that the Frozen McCain Crispy fries are brilliant in the AF.. taste better than deep fried..

I have one of the black egg shaped ones. It holds 8 quarts. I can get a whole chicken in it. I use it for all kinds of frozen chicken tenders, brats, hash brown patties, sausages, and even baking cinnamon rolls. I bought one like it at Target for my DIL at Christmas for $50!

Does baking a potato in an airfryer take less time than in a regular oven? (For years I've been baking potatoes in the microwave oven which of course takes much less time and doesn't heat the whole house up but it's nowhere near as good as when cooked in a regular oven.)

Also, can you broil steaks in an air fryer and do they turn out the same as in a regular oven?

My fries came out great this time! I cooked them at a lower heat... about 375°F, and I think cooking them more slowly made a difference. They didn't get dried out. I also seasoned them with salt, pepper, and some lemon seasoning, and used a little olive oil to make the spices stick. Tasty! :)

I've tried some of the frozen fries, and some of them are pretty good! It's just not the same as home made, though.

Yep, steaks come out great in the air fryer. They make a mess of it, though. Splatter all over the door and the insides. I'm making a roast tomorrow in the air fryer. It takes about 20 minutes.

For baked potatoes, I cook them in the microwave and then coat them with oil and salt, and then air fry them for a few minutes to make the skin crispy. I don't know how long it would take to bake them completely in the air fryer but they'd probably come out just like when you cook them in a conventional oven.
