Question about astral traveling. Have you?

It was one normal night. I had gone to bed and sleep hours before. Then I woke up as I often do.
I reached up to pull the chain that turns on the lightbulb in the floor lamp that hovers over my bed
to read and whatnot.

Nothing happened. Tried it again. Did the bulb go bad? I got up and turned on the ceiling light. Well, that
answered that question. When did I take the bulb out of the lamp? Then saw it lying on the desk next to my bed.
When and how did that get there? I've heard of sleepwalkers having a snack but never taking a lightbulb out of a lamp.

Oh, maybe the bulb stopped working and that's why I took it out of the lamp. I put it back in and it worked fine.
I decided to forget about it.

When morning came I wrote an email to a cousin back in Vienna as I usually do several times a week. I received a reply email
talking about his day. Our timezone are opposite each others so when it's night here in Hawaii it's daytime there in
Vienna. He wrote about what he ate that day and described a wonderful pear that he bought from the market. It was so juicy and
tasty he said.

Okay, fine, we finished our conversation and went our own ways. Then I thought about it some more. Something clicked in my head--Light Bulb and Pear. I looked up the German word for lightbulb and and the definition was for both bulb and pear. Not a surprise because a pear is shaped like a lightbulb. He's never told me about eating a pear before that morning. And I've never took a bulb out of my lamp before that night. so I got to thinking. Why did I do that? Well, it did get my attention. Was that the reason? It was supposed to catch my attention?

About what? After much pondering, I decided that it was a reminder how someway or other I "saw" my cousin eating a pear when I was asleep. Was it a dream? How could a dream tell me about a pear that my cousin was eating? I think I've had to have seen it and that I was there in some way that day (my night) when he was eating the pear.

Did I Astral Travel that night. I don't know. To my knowledge it had never happened before and has never happened again. The only other strange thing related to my cousin and his death was my computer having gone berserk for a short time when I heard about it

I have always been intrigued my the concept. I sort of wish I could experience it
I think you can find a book or something about it maybe how to learn to experience it yourself.
I haven't really looked for one but I'm going to try to remember to do so. It is intriguing. And to me,
it would show how consciousness can be a thing apart from the physical mind/brain.

I remember many years ago, 17 to be exact, I was in my bed early one morning when I saw my ex-boyfriend's face suddenly rushing towards me., this happened so fast and then he was gone. I told a friend who said that he was dead now and did an astral travel to say goodbye to me. This left me wondering if this was the case. I've held this thought for many years now.

I don't know if astral projection is the right term for this experience. I'm going to think about it. Yes, I think it was real, but something else......

i have had a couple but was about to get off line and do chores. Will come back later to describe. Altho my first for sure one was spontaneous when ill in my teens and i have talked about it elsewhere.

First, a short version of the first one i'm sure of, it is possible i had some as a child and thought they were dreams. I was maybe 14-15 and was very ill. At the time my Mom left for work before i got up for school. The deal was if i felt too sick to go to school i had to call her at her job, and she would call school so they wouldn't assume i was playing hooky. Had to wait till she would be there (she took busses at the time and had a 45 minute travel time.

So i knew i had to get up. I thought i got up a full 6 times only to notice that some small detail about the apartment was 'off', wrong color curtains or placement of small items like doorknob, toaster, knick-knacks. Each time i got closer to the phone (in living room) before noticing and the moment i did i was back in bed just 'waking'.

The 7th time there was an immediate difference, the covers felt heavy everything uncomfortable as i stood up, and i felt the feverishness and weakness. Called Mom and returned to bed. When recovered i learned from reading what it was called. Later Monroe's book confirmed that little differences in places known to you were a common part of it.

I did once or twice deliberately, not venturing far. Once i learned to meditate with Silva techniques it was simpler to send my conscious awareness places than detach astral self.

I'll have to think about this because I don't see the pear and the lightbulb as being two different events that happened simultaneously. They actually happened in two different time zones at two different times. And the cause was astral travel which would be actually being there.

I'll think of this some more and would be interested if you could explain your viewpoint a little more.

"Journeys out of the body," is a great book. I bought it back in '71 (I think), when it first came out. It was a blue hard cover. Monroe has at least 2 other books relating some of his out of body travels/experiences. He also started the Monroe Institute, a facility that helps train those interested in out of body travel using sound frequencies, basically called "Hemi-sync." He has a very interesting history.

There is no doubt in <my> mind that AP is real. 'Where' one projects to is still a matter up for discussion in many circles, i.e., whether we actually project into our outer world, whether we 'go within,' or whether we just slip into another dimension. Or if the whole thing is imaginary--which I personally doubt highly.

My first attempt at AP was intentional. I was heavily into meditation at the time (in my early 20's) if that matters. I lay on my back in bed, kept my attention at a spot between my eyebrows (the 3rd eye spot), keeping my mind as blank as possible. In about 30 minutes I started losing all sensation of my body; I had no idea where my arms were located. I then started rising off the bed. I knew my eyes were closed, but I could actually see the bed dropping away under me quickly.

Regrettably, I jumped off the bed in sheer terror. The experience scared the ever-loving pooky out of me! But also, after that experience--in my own mind as being more real than real--I was intrigued to this very day. These days my out of body experiences usually initiate from within my dreams.

In mine, and other's experiences, light bulbs seem to be a trigger in one's dream state to help 'wake you up' to where you are--for lack of a better description. Light switches too. I can't count how many times when dreaming that I flipped a light switch causing a light bulb to throw off sparks. There seems to be an intelligence available to everyone to help nudge you along to advance. Things like light bulbs/switches in your dreams acting strange help turn your dream into a 'lucid dream,' which then can turn into an out of body projection.

I'll think of this some more and would be interested if you could explain your viewpoint a little more.
Hi, first time I saw this. I'll try, might take awhile, my brain's not so fast on its feet anymore. Bet you didn't know brains had feet! I worked in the Biology Lab in High School saw plenty of jars of brains! :ROFLMAO:

After I read the Robert Monroe book, I will probably be able to give you more information.

Question about astral traveling. Have you? It seems as though I traveled through time and space while tripping. I was at a homecoming football game and it seemed that I was traveling through time visualizing past homecoming games.

I once had a spontaneous out of body experience, (not sure if that is what it was or was it an astral projection?) Anyway, I was about seventeen, and had fallen asleep on my bed while reading a book. At one point, the sun was shining directly on my face and I felt vaguely concerned, as if I should move out of the sunlight. Then I seemed to be flying. I could feel the wind on my face and see the ground far beneath me, as if flying in a plane. The colors were fantastic and I felt a sense of joyful awe at being able to travel this way. I could see fields looking like patchwork quilts below, and gleaming water as I passed streams and lakes.

I heard someone call my name, and I felt annoyed. Then things started looking like a film that had been fast forwarded. The lovely views blurred and I was traveling rapidly through space, until I could actually see the roof of my home. I seemed to float right through it as if I were made out of mist.

Then, I was hovering in a corner of my room, up near the ceiling. I could see myself, sprawled on my bed, the book I had been reading under my cheek, and my sister shaking my arm and calling my name repeatedly. I was intrigued seeing myself like that. Then, there was this rush, and a sensation of being lightly hit in the stomach. I felt slightly ill, and realized that I was back in my body.

My sister was saying that she had grown alarmed when I didn't respond to her, and how I had almost seemed dead. I have never forgotten this.
