Sounds like we're aliens don't it? "The Plant People" Bwahahaha...But really a question. Late summer I planted something fragrant, can't recall what exactly and I thought it rooted before winter. Now in it's place is forsythia. There's a huge forsythia about six feet away. Does that spread? I mean it's just as pretty but I was curious.

It can layer itself and propagate that way.Snow or anything could catch a cane and hold it down into the soil and cause new roots near the tip of that cane.

Oh I never thought of it layering itself like that. Good point mattc. I was thinking a seed from the flowers maybe did manage to germinate.

I'm okay with the forsythia, the mint plant became a nightmare. Warning to everyone...one mint plant will take over a whole yard. Keep them contained in a pot away from the ground...I'm serious, they can become "The Little Shop of Horrors" and spread for miles.

I love forsythia but have never worked with it.

I was given an amaryllis bulb and a pot and some potting mixture for Christmas. I planted it. It is now about 2' tall but has never bloomed. Any chance it might bloom later this year or next?

Oh wow! Forsythia! Yes, That spreads. In NJ, its one of the most common shrubs and used as a hedge plant by many. Its cheap and pretty, There are two kinds. An upright and a spreading. Beautiful in the Spring. Requires a lot of pruning unless you want to leave it in its natural form. That's its prettiest in my opinion, but takes a lot of room.

They can take a while. Don't know when you planted it. If its Two feet it should certainly have a bud ready to go by now. We used to do them.
If it doesn't bloom, you might e able to research it and save it for next year. We always tossed ours.
