I guess that is why I am afraid to even try it. If it came down to it I would call a SIL that has had a private driver for years. She travels for work a lot, he picks her up at home and when she comes back from the airport at ungodly hours. I if I have need for someone to go with me to the doctor or medical related the son takes me. He has done this on many an occasion. I can have my son help me, even stays here and takes care of me if needed. Of course we know this in advance so he can plan to be off work. I pay him his salary for missed time at work, I insist on that.
I can have most everthing delivered by grocery stores, Amazon and even the local pharmacy. It is better to have an account at a reasonable rate to have peace of mind. It may cost a little a year but once you how much easier it is when you can't get out, it saves a fortune in stress.
I really like having the grocery service available, they bring the heavy stuff, the dog food, the bottled water, the sodas etc. All I have to do is bring it in instead of lifting at the grocery, then into my trunk, then into the house. If is cold, rainy bad weather or if it is the boiling hot of the summer I do not have to go out uness I want to. Mostly these days, I go out to get the loss leaders in meat and produce sales. I keep a good stock of everything in the freezers and pantry so I don't have to worry about it. When you look at it, the cost is quite low for the peace of mind that you can take care of yourself.
The other thing that I like is most of my deliveries are made by women. They are out there trying to make a little bit of money when the kids are in school. I have deliveries in the evening and the kids are right there with Mom bringing the bags to the door. I feel good knowing those tips go to families that need a little help.
