Radio, The forgotten Medium ? Do you listen to it?

Never have radio on in car - too distracting - have radio on
when I am having meals in dining room, find the ads very
exasperating, so only listen to the news.

When we traveled for long distances on vacation we had Sirius in the car. The hubby loves the radio on, so I figured if I have to listen to something I want my classic country and some old time Rock and Roll. He enjoys that also. These days we don't travel as far so I put the music we like on my Kindle from YouTube and play it through the speakers in the car. In the house I want it quiet. The hubby is stuffed in front of the TV most of the day so he doesn't care.

With more than 30,000 stations available on the internet you must be hard to p,ease!

KAHM is available here in Fife, Scotland on the portal "Tunein", which I think is US portal so no copyright problems?

I don't have internet in my car. At home there are other things like this forum and books and magazines.

I listen to Sirius radio in my car and streamed within the house. I also enjoy a number of podcasts, which are on specialized topics. Lastly, I use several "apps" to listen to old time radio dramas, great for when you want a story but are too tired to read.

For those with Sirius radios, I've got my "buttons" set on "Willie's Roadhouse", "Bluegrass Junction", and "The Bridge".

And, no, I don't dress in cowboy costumes or plan on moving soon. LOL All in good fun, CR!! I do enjoy that classic country music.

We still have a one AM/FM station that broadcasts local interest shows. It's a daily ritual for me since I was brought up listening to AM radio in the 50's. We had a great general interest program here for years but the two primary personalities passed away and it never regained it's listener base.

Two really good broadcasts come to mind from the past, Starlight Serenade (a Canadian program that was broadcast over shortwave) and the King Biscuit Flower Hour (broadcast every Sunday night for over 20 years).

At home I listen to classical music on the HD frequency of a local NPR station. Don't have HD radio in the car so when the radio's on, it's NPR, or if the weather is bad, I tune it to the weather radio.

This is what I do when I don't check my email first. A duplicate post by me. I had forgotten I had already responded to this and then I did it again. Sorry everyone!!!
