Ran a stop sign the other day and a red light a few days later

I think it's related to my heart issues and the mini stroke I had a few years ago. At random I've been feeling tense, tight, sore, stiff something in the back of my neck and the back top of my shoulders. When that happens I black out about half way. I can still see images but not the details. I still can think clearly. I don't have any stress in my life. I did have a carotid endarterectomy after the mini stroke.
Anyhow, I was driving on country roads that I wasn't familiar with going to meet my daughter. The half black out started, the sun and shade from the trees were making it difficult. I was focusing but I popped around a corner and was through the stop sign. I saw the stop sign at the last minute but it was too late. (I didn't see the warning sign for the stop sign beforehand). Was going 25-30 mph. Good thing the motorcycle across the intersection didn't turn left in front of me.
A few days later I was driving to the campground (pickup truck pulling a camper) do 45mph or so. I knew where the traffic light was and was focusing on what color it was. Can see details until I get kinda close. I could make out it was green but I didn't see it turn Yellow and by the time I got closer to the intersection it turned red. But it was too late to stop. All I could do was blow the horn and barrel on through. Again luckily the cars sitting at the intersection didn't come out into the intersection.
Anyhow what cures the half black out thing is laying down on my back for 5, 10, 15 or so minutes. Maybe next time I'll pull over and lay down somewhere.
ok sorry it was long, I think I'm finished, my brain is empty. I won't be able to say anything for days

You'll really need to ask a doctor about that blacking out thing, Doug... sounds scary and I'm sorry you're going through it. Ignoring it, though, is totally unacceptable because I'm sure you don't want to be responsible for someone's serious injury or death. An Internet forum isn't the place to ask this question... your doc's office is.

Sorry you are going through this, @DougEmu! I also had a stroke (mini) several years ago, and have seen changes in my eyesight. Given that you wrote about your experience driving the other day, it is important to address it. Like others have said, get a doctor's evaluation. Also, get an eye test, if that could help. You might want to keep an eye on where the sun faces. I have noticed if I drive around 8 AM, I face the sun and it blurs the edges and I cannot see that well. Things to think about.

See an ENT! Bro in law, RIP, had same problem from having a stroke. It damaged blood vessels in his inner ear causing inability for his muscles to function and react at times and inability to focus at times. More like a gray out than a black out. He refused to stop driving and that stupid decision cost him his life.
This post might set an all time record for people responding

I would guess you will transgress to worse.
You risk ruining your life continuing to drive.
Aging forces Elders to restrain their activities.
Many meds say do not drive.
I no longer spend many hours walking around
on Blacktop at the Zoo or Fair Grounds. No more
NASCAR Races / Football Games. Some of my
Decisions come from Boredom thar. ... :ROFLMAO: ...

The Last Field of Halloween was last Fall. Done too.
I wear Blue Blockers for the Computer screen and Dark Contrast settings.
I realised I sleep better too.

Our Granddaughter is 17 and is completely unsafe behind the wheel.
My wife refuses to ride with her. I find no reason too.

There may be no accurate way to know. But "not gonna do it," is a best choice here.

Put the Camper in Storage for another year.

Limit yourself to a power chair to the Metro Mart for raffle tickets / Lottos.

I'm sitting at a stop light Saturday afternoon around 4 pm.
Not in a rush, Turbos idling 1st in line, lights turn Green.

I look to the left first thing and bingo Black Honda blows thru red light.
Most likely doing better than 50 MPH accelerating in a 25 MPH zone. Whew.
Watch him blow up the road and Cars to the right all stopped.
Proceed with caution Ladies!

St Louis Rule is Most all side street Red Lights get run every day.
Even driving up on the Side Walks to pass stopped vehicles.
Every trip someone weaving thru traffic at 80 mph in a 65.
Even off the highway to get passed 18 wheelers. Saw one hit
a Big Wheel Tire Tread. No witnesses needed that day.

2 in High Power Dodge vehicle doing 90 at a cloverleaf, go off curve and over into cliff. Wham.
Stuff all over that cliff. Its crazy -- ---- out there!
