Group that does little random acts of kindness to help people in their community...http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/princ...-of-kindness-group-overwhelms-woman-1.2850691

Lois Campbell from Summerside was shopping for apples at Sobeys a week and a half ago, when she was greeted by a group of children. At first the 80-year-old great-grandmother thought they were selling tickets for a draw, so she started to rummage around in her purse for change.

Then a little girl stepped forward to hand her an envelope. Inside was a $50 gift card.
"And she said, 'It's for you.' I couldn't believe a $50 gift card, passed to me for no reason. I was just overwhelmed. The tears were coming, and I wanted to give them all a hug. I was trembling," said Campbell.

Before she could get their names, the kids were gone. Campbell wanted to find them to thank them properly, so she set out to track them down.
The children and their parents belong to a group called Keeping Fit Exercise. But exercise isn't all the group does. It raises money to help people in the community when there's a need.

Members quietly band together to buy things like groceries, gas, clothing, pay sports fees, and even graduation expenses. And up until now, they have never had any publicity.

"The motto of our group is people helping people," said group leader Rachel Parise.

"We started doing this about seven years ago. We do it because we want to make a difference. Once you get it, that it's better to give than to receive, that's just a part of your life. We have always tried to teach our children that that is what it's all about."

I had never heard of this Group before. What a wonderful way to live life and to teach
children to be kind to others. We need more kindness and generosity in our daily lives.

A couple of years ago I broke my upper arm in 3 places and every where I went someone was offering help. One man literally ran over to help me break apart some bananas and I said thank you and I think I will take you home with me. He looked over at his wife and said, "I don't think she would like that".

So true, the good thing is I do find this happens more often in my real life with people I run into when I'm out and about.

I know we shouldn't get in cars with strangers and I don't often, but, many times I've been walking and someone has stopped to give me a ride without my asking. The most recent was an older woman whom saw me walking from a store to the bus stop through the strip mall, it was pouring rain, she pulled up aside me and offered me a ride home. I accepted, I usually will accept from the women. Now when it's perfectly sunny and men pull up aside me, I decline the offer of a ride unless I know them. I've had young couples turn around walk back from their cars when they see me in a Walmart lot if they think i'm struggling to get something out of a cart, they double back from wherever they are to come assist me. It's always heartwarming to me. I've doubled back, gone different direction to walk a senior with my umbrella in the rain or just gave someone my umbrella. So often, I run into terrific people.

Sure it's easy to lose faith in humanity but then along comes a random act of kindness and it renews our belief that there's more good than bad in our world.
