Rating products made for seniors.

Anybody have one of those rumba vacuum things? Do they really keep the place clean? Are you tripping over the thing? noisy? Does anyone else think a product is just great for us seniors? We're the people using products made for seniors, so who is better than us to rate those products?

When those Rumba vacuums came out, I LOL'd. I knew they would be marketed to everyone; not just seniors. I think they are a terrible idea.
The worst thing for everyone (not just seniors) is to reduce activity. Even if vacuuming is difficult, a senior can do a little of it at a time.
My niece & her husband have one & they love it. It's the worst thing for them; they're both over 100 lbs overweight.

I do not know how useful these are for seniors ....
i know they made improvements as the first generation of the rumba would push around any pet accident etc it did not move around ... hear the new versions do. .............funny / sad videos of people who came home and have accidents tracked everywhere....

think vacuuming can be done a bit at a time but bending over to pick up rumba if stuck under furniture / or sucked something up would be hard for some

Bought one a couple yrs back, then bought another brand and
then stopped buying them...they are not a true vacuum, just
lift trash up with the brushes into the bin....would not clean worth a damn as far as I'm concerned.......

One of our Granddaughters has a Rumba. She likes it because she can have it run when they are all at work and school, and it saves her time on her days off. As for any "advantages" for a retiree....that's debatable.

Yes I have one,
It will pick up very well on a hard surface (even dust and pet hair) and rugs that are not too thick (but don't expect great suction power on rugs) , tiles give it hiccups, somehow the square pattern will make it repeat and repeat but eventually it will move on, it will get stuck occasionally but will shut itself off after many tries to get loose, finds its way back to charger. Mine is an older model Roomba that I have to clean wheels and moving parts about once a year....anyway I like it.

I've had 3 versions of the Rumba over the years. I have difficulty emptying the 'bin' into the trash. It weighs more than I can comfortably lift due to my RA and PMR. It's probably great on hard floors but not very good on carpet.....I kept thinking they'd get better but instead, styles have changed from carpet to hardwood floors!

That's a great point , not something seniors would necessarily think of before buying...
