Re: Your last marriage - who asked whom out, and who proposed first?

Only been married once - we're together over 45 years now and are happy and extraordinarily compatible. About 15 months into our relationship (already living together), we were talking about marriage - sort of skirting the issue. I finally said something like, "If you want to get married, then I need to hear a proposal. If not, this is mostly bullsh*t, so let's change the subject."

He changed the subject. :p

About a half hour later, he asked me to marry him. ❤️

I was dating a lady when I was stationed at a small radar site in the midwest.
One day I got the assignment I was hoping for, to be stationed in the UK for 4 years.

We went out that night for dinner and I told her about my Orders and how excited I was.
She looked at me over the table and cooly said, "I happy for you".
My response was " You should be happy too, you're going with me!

Not one of my better moments, so I quickly asked her to marry me.
She smiled and the Journey began.

A mate and me went camping to the isle of Skye where we met a couple of ladies on the campsite. Turned out they came from the same town as us. One of them and myself just clicked and as it turned out we actually stayed only 5 miles apart at home. We met up after our separate holidays. That was in the August, I proposed in the December, we got engaged in the following February and married in the November. We will be 45 years married this coming November.
