A police officer should know better than anyone else about security cameras being everywhere & investigating & evidence. He wants to play "Brave Hero," so he makes holes in his shirt & claims he was shot. The whole neighborhood was messed up for hours, no one could go in or out of their houses & everyone was terrified about a non-existent sniper & innocent people had guns pointed at them while police searched for a shooter. And this isn't that unusual. And the worst this idiot will face is being fired.

It really makes me wonder how crazy the world is now,and I just pray it doesn't get worse.

After reading the article and giving it some thought, I think a few things may have been in play. The first thing that came to mind was immaturity. At 21 years of age and having very little law enforcement experience and because he was not progressing or living up to expectations, he may have panicked and felt desperate to find something that would take him out from under the microscope. Sort of like a distraction.

Desperate people will do desperate things when confronted with a stressful situation.

I don’t know how California will handle this, but I am sure that here in PA, he would face more than just being terminated. Since the Sheriff’s office spent days in the field, he may also face having to pay the bill for all those man hours and expenses incurred.

Whatever the outcome, he certainly did embarrass his office, fellow deputies, his badge and all of law enforcement in general. However, this situation just goes to show us that there is bad in everything. Bad plumbers, bad doctors, bad deputies, etc.
