We are about 130 miles west of St. Louis. We had rain but it wasn't severe. I was shocked to see St. Louis flooding so badly! What's next?

I don't know. Stating the obvious. Some too much rain, others not enough. I don't know what is going to happen with all this.

I was shocked too. Glad you weren't affected by it though Paco. Just when we think things can't get any worse, they do. As the rap song says "It's gettin' kinda hectic"!!

We're also in central Missouri, and have been receiving some nice, much needed, rain the past couple of days. I looked at our rain gauge this morning, and we've had about 2.5 inches....nothing anywhere near the deluge that hit North and East of us. This front should bring us about 4 inches by Thursday, followed by a mild weekend, before the heat returns, next week.
The brown grass is already starting to green up again, so I will probably have to resume lawn mowing next week.

I lived in St.Louis for 10 years. We had a couple major floods during that time, and one real doozy where the Missouri River and the Mississippi both flooded And kind of merged. So nothing new, really. I do feel sorry for the people who are flooded out.
More floods, more droughts, more rain, more continuous in cycles as has always been. Usually, or more today, getting worse by all the efforts of government.
I now Live in area that gets a good share of rain and sometimes have flood issues.
I find flood season on news fascinating .......as many simply build back same place even though they have had previous serious damage in the exact same spot.......build house on stilts like they have in southern Louisiana...if they insist on staying put.
What i saw., when i moved here is bad planning ........and even WORSE maintenance regarding run off area and roads etc ....
So many So called planned run off streams / ditches filled with garbage..... creating a dam for the run off. Yet no one except concerned citizens unplug this mess ....call someone they say " not under this department ...try that one or another one "
IF Government employees do not KNOW who takes care of it how does the public
Same goes with street drains covered with leaves and debris and often garbage .... when i walk if i see a cover dammed up...... i will kick it clear otherwise we see backup in street creating a hydroplane issue.
For some UNKNOWN reason many simply do not drive well in ANY weather event ...
We had numerous wrecks nearby in bright Hot sunny day must have needed to speed as windows down 60 mph is their only A/C
